Shimano 6200 friction shifting on the older-type bosses.
Suntour Superbe Pro crankset, FD, RD. Shimano 600AX calipers, DiaCompe levers.
Nitto Young stem/B115-420 bars, SR Laprade seatpost, Selle Italia SL saddle.
Bottom bracket is a Maeda Industries with a 113 6200 spindle swapped in.
Tires are Panaracer Practice 270 (TPI) from REI's garage sale ($5/each).
Only heavy part is the BB and the 13-28 7sp Suntour freewheel.

Nice Comp TA RT,

Is that a early 84 or late 83 SN, curious as it has the 1983 downtube logo and headbadge. unlike Mark's that has 84-85 graphics

OOH, OOH, OOH, pretty and shiny! Is that this year's SOTR bike? I could ditch the bike I was going to ride and ride the SR again. We could be matching buds. That is a super looking build you got there.

Not really that odd of a size. More of a sport tourer geometry. Both of my 54 bikes have about the same dimensions. One is French. The other is the cousin of your Compe TA. I would agree the fit is great for our body builds.

Nice looking bike. Everytime I see this color combo, it has a blueish tint to it. rccardr had one I thought was blue/silver.

That can be resolved.

Very, very pretty Comp T/A, Robbie.

Kinda surprised you used those brakes again. Figure out how to make them work properly?

@saypat , I thought was blue/silver.[/QUOTE]
OK , I can explain that . I did a touch up / respray on the bike with a paint called Rust-Oleum Dark Steel , the cap matched really well . In low light it's almost a match ,metallic and all . Put some sun light on it and it goes crazy . I resprayed the hole rear triangle and about 3/4 of the aft part of the TT . Looks blue to me too .

I did not know the Comp TA has eyelets. Now, I think I understand the evolution. In 84 we had the Turbo and the Comp TA. The Racer and the all day Racer. Both are dropped for 85. The top level Racer becomes the Prestige and the Cinelli Italian Stallion. The all day(and more affordable) racer becomes the IM. Under that is the Sport Enthusiast Lemans? The Prestige and Equipe are not making a dent against those cool sounding Italians. But the IM is selling like State Fair Midway food. So we say goodbye to the Prestige and Equipe. The popular IM splits into 2 models. Centurion sponsors some winners and the Legend is born. Is that correct?

I'm guessing Robbie already stated this in the info thread. I'm too lazy to look.

You could look for one of the Superbe Compe cranks. I think they are 130/74. Compact or triple. Been looking for one myself. The bike I would put it one only has Superbe derailleurs/shifters. I can get by with another brand.

your close,

Comp TA's and the eyelets, some have them some dont. It looks like maybe it was tied to the early COMP TA's like @RobbieTunes his looks to be a early version of the COMP TA, which has the 1983 Graphics and a gold painted headtube. not a Silver one that is noted in the catalog. @markwesti has a later one that has the 1984 graphics and no eyelets. although the 1984 catalog shows a Comp TA, with 84 graphics and Eyelets. so i think they were removed from spec some time during production.

1983 Turbo, Elite
1984 Turbo, Comp TA
1985 Cinelli Equipe, Prestige, Ironman
1986 Prestige, Facet, Ironman
1987 Ironman Master / Expert
1988 Ironman Carbon / Master / Expert
1989 Prestige, Carbon R , Ironman Master / Expert

Looked for example pics but haven't found. Anyone have a good rec for bar tape matching the MV magenta?

I'll look.
Easier to match the sunflower/marigold of the ST and HT. Jagwire makes a housing, and several saddles are out there.

i know, and it looks good, but it's been done

i have yellow brake housing and thin yellow line tires installed. Those were in the bin. But since I have to buy tape, figured I'd be different.

I've had some form of black, white, magenta or yellow on mine. I like the black best. I did not like the white hoods at all.

There are a few options that I looked at on ebay last night from fuchsia to magenta to violet to purple. Screen colors are so variable, though, as well as the cameras the seller used.
On my ipad, pictures of the MV always have a more purple tint than my bike looks to my naked eye. So holding up my screen next to the frame tubes - the Deda fuchsia looked closest. But if I put a bartape picture side by side with an MV picture, I lean to one of the more purple hues.
That's why I was looking for real experience. I haven't checked to see if any of the LBSs have close options in stock.

I bought a couple MVs with yellow and also magenta wrap and both matched well. I think the magenta was fizik but I'm not a 100% sure. But there is a match out there.
