How much do you think I should sell my bike for?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

How much do you think I should sell my bike for?

Hey guys,

I'm wanting to sell one of my older road bikes, and I was wonder just how much you think I should sell it for. It's a 2001 Specialized S-Works M4 Road Bike with dura-ace components and its a really fast bike.

Here is bikepedia's website with a picture of the bike https://www.bikepedia.com/quickbike/B...Road&Type=bike. Any input would be great!

Thanks!

It is worth what a buyer is willing to pay. Put it on ebay and let the market decide. Of course, this time of year demand declines. If you wait until Christmas time or spring auction prices for bikes will go a little higher. My guess is maybe $1000. Although the aluminum frame is probably excellent, carbon is all the rage today and the demand for aluminum frames is low these days.

Recently put an 853 frame with an Easton EC90 aero fork on CL at a what I thought would be a steal of a price. Nada, nothing. Economy stinks. It is impossible to say what someone would give you for the bike. Look at scambay and see what similar bikes have gone for recently.

a bike similar to the OP's (but with full ultegra instead) popped up on CL about 16 months ago (when i was looking for my first roadie) for $600 and i slightly regret not buying it. the seller didn't seem like he was getting a lot of interest for it, though.

That means: the bike isn't worth what it's worth.
