I got out this morning for a 45-mile loop with a neighborhood friend. Highlights included a 20-30 mph wind in our faces heading west with gusts up to 50 mph but more interesting was my first opportunity to see my friend's new Chapman Cycles custom. Schweet! You just inspired me to get out my old 35 mm Minolta. Looking back, my very best photos have been made with that Camera--I stopped using it a good number of years ago, having bought a nice Canon digital. I've only used my smart phone the past 2 years. So disappointing, those smart-phone pics. The only good thing about my smart phone is the ease at which the pics are put on forums. So, after reading your post, I rode 27 miles today and took 11 exposures in Fuji film. Now I have to figure out where to get the pics developed and onto the computer. Fun! Your Leica and you take great photos. I might go back to digital, but I'll try film for awhile

These were ancient single-speed roadsters, heavy and indestructable. They had to be, they were usually piloted by drunken Marines. They were raced, jumped over benjos (open sewers - hence the name), and run up the flagpole after we stole them from another squadron. We were Road Pirates! Yaaarrrrrr...

Those are some powerful memories.

I actually took this ride on my birthday (last May 30th, mark your calendars). I hadn't figured out photobucket yet so I didn't post them. I thought I'd save them for a rainy day. Now, after 2 feet of snow, it's raining again. Here you go;

@Vonruden, fantastic photography in your posts every time. I have to agree with StrathsCycling, you live in a beautiful area for cycling, or you present things so that it certainly seems to be a great place for cycling. Perhaps both are in play.

No time for a long ride this weekend. I only made it out to the edge of the suburbs where the fruit trees are in blossom, even the tiny 3-4 foot new trees shown here.
Eroica California is only 4 weeks away, so I took a side trip on the home to the dirt trails in the city park for a little gravel practice.

I took a nice 30 mile ride after work yesterday and headed to the LI Sound. Boy was it windy! Fully loaded pannier and moving fast to stave off the cold. It looks like today will be my last day riding outside for a while if this NorEaster delivers the amount of snow that has been predicted...

Beautiful warm and sunny day in the bay area with temp in the upper 70s. I worked out a new, short loop that I expect to work into my regular ride rotation. Up & over the east bay ridge to Orinda, then up & over again back to Berkeley with a ride profile like an M (approximately 7.5 miles gradual uphill, then 3 miles steep downhill, ~1.5 flat, another 3 miles up, and another 6 miles down).

Our son and daughter in law are well and truly snowed in right now. They called this afternoon to let us know they were still extant. Snow is up to near the top of their windows on one side of their house, they are claiming cabin fever already. You guys and gals be careful playing in the white stuff, and please don't eat yellow snow.

Log dam from recent rains/storms, other misc shots. I'm even under the 17 stone weight limit, but I need to shave a stone off before summer. Switched to 23mm tires on rear from 28 to make the fender work better. This is a popular trail with the 'teacup dog' set.
