After a long hiatus off the bike, I'm back at it (don't ask). 25 yesterday and 25 today, felt decent even though it was quite warm, humid and windy here in FL. Feeling good now, we'll see what tomorrow AM brings!

Fighting a cold but the weather was too nice not to get out. Reached 50 degrees yesterday! My first consecutive day rides since back on the bike, just over 3 months since my hip replacement.

I let my bike take me anywhere it wanted to go today. I rode 60 miles to dinner, another 10 miles to dessert and 5 more to my destination. I could have sworn the weather forecast was for sunny 70 degree skies. Instead it was high 50’s and drizzling!?!?!?

Another sunny day in the Bay and getting warmer. Winds were still blowing this morning but bearable up in the hills. It was so clear I could see both the City and Oakland.

45 miles Wednesday night, half of that a casual group ride. Beautiful weather, low 70s to mid 60s, clear, windy but nice. One of my longest rides since my November surgery, and the first time I haven't been exhausted after a ride.

61 mi at 12.8 mph on big "O" dike and Kanner hwy. Did not know I was less than 2 mi from Indiantown FL. Just a little more and I could have enjoyed a Payday Coke A'cond break. Maybe next week.

30 mi @ 12.6 on NEW bike! Bought a cheapie Vilano Forza on Amazon - set it up as close as I could to match my CF and went on a short test ride. I now have a back-up.

FINALLY beautiful Bay Area weather this morning. A bit cooler than I like but the sun was out, no winds, just great riding weather.

Spoiled by warm weather ride a couple of days ago - a five mile ride this afternoon was all I could muster in felt-like-arctic conditions - 39F and windy.

Got out and rode but nowhere near my normal 12 miles/day mark. Worst part is I can't even blame the weather because except for the typical coastal breeze it was a beautiful day. Tomorrow is another day and the forecast is looking good.

To tell you the truth I didn't even try the drops. I'm so out of shape I was on the hoods the whole ride. I'm 9 weeks post op. The neck was definitely sore when I got done with the ride but within an hour it was feeling pretty good. The muscles definitely need to strengthen up - I'm doing that with an old physical therapy band that I have. Just going to slowly build the base miles again - the last couple of years have been sporadic.

I can tell how out of shape my legs have become over the Winter. Today I started out against a cold 10-15 mph headwind. It was difficult to maintain any kind of pace.
The rebound home was fun though. I got in 90 minutes.

I started out on a ride a couple days ago, got about two blocks from home, and had a tire blowout. It was the stock tire, and had 3400 miles on it. So I guess I got my money's worth.

Sounds like a good start. We lose our fitness faster than we can regain it but we can get it back with persistence.

I got out for an 11 mile ride today in sunny, cool temps.

30 miles on the gravel today, first 15mi was into a 14mph headwind, gusting 30! Temp was only 45 degrees, but I was soaking wet when I finished. Heart rates below....for reference, my proven max is 160bpm. Avg for the entire 2 hours was 142bpm.

Even though my legs were still feeling the effects of yesterday's ride, I could not resist getting back out on a gorgeous, sunny, 60F day with calm winds.
Got in 76 minutes. I wanted to stay out longer, but my out of shape legs suggested otherwise.

30 mi @ 13.6 mph for a weeks total of 130 mi. No aches or pains - not bad for 79 YO.

Beautiful Bay Area weather these past few days before our rains return. This morning was a good ride on the Raleigh Panasonic Cadet.
