You answered your own question, I think. I won't take a chance on a bike if it's "almost too easy." I will only do it if it actually is too easy.
The more accurate answer, I guess, is that I could choose to make money by parting out bikes, but--no disrespect to those here who do choose to do that--but there are lots of things I'd rather do more. I'm 65 years old, so I try not to do things that I don't want to do.

@thinktubes I'm not fully sure how to parse your submarine analogies [insert smiley face here].

I stand 100% behind every and all decisions my older and wiser friend and northern New England neighbor @jonwvara has made in regard to that poorly treated (possibly abused) Paramount he happened upon.
He deserves kudos and accolades for rationally thinking through a potential purchase and walking away, especially when he desires more time to read a psychology book about risk aversion (see post 19).
He is retired after all and can choose to spend his time as he pleases!

But, Jon, don't you know that time spent hunting down old bike bargains and disassembling those bikes and cleaning and polishing the components and painstakingly taking photos and writing copy to post for sale on eBay and CL and BF and yacking about it all on social media is 1,000 times more valuable than time spent actually riding your old bikes. It's scientifically proven.
