I think a lot of people missed the point that they need multiple bikes, and they should all be identical to one another (even if that means they are all inaccurate).
And nobody should be surprised. How many times have we seen street cars on screen with the sound of an F1 engine dubbed in? Ducatis that sound like inline-4 Japanese bikes? Characters firing guns with their right hands while riding motorcycles, but not slowing down...
So anyone know who got the bikes for the show "The Patriot"? They seem to change from episode to episode, but a couple looked genuinely vintage.
To make it "passably" older, ditch the aero brakes and as suggested earlier, a VO, IRD or other period looking crankset in silver, stem suggestion would be good too.
This actor going to have to master toe clips and straps? If not some double sided touring pedal.
I think I would have suggested Rivendell's.
They are filming in my neighborhood all the time (incredibly annoying for residents), and the attitudes of these people are astonishing. Seriously, it's like they truly believe they are of a higher order. Their little shoot is the most important thing in the entire world (and everybody should know this), while the actual lives of those that, you know, live there, are completely secondary.

Think Breaking Away- different brakes, different bikes, be sure this time if going "fast" the actor is in the big ring.

Agree with the bell and VO stem.
Throw on some Microshift derailleurs (+front) and downtube shifters. Maybe throw on an 8-speed cassette to make them slightly easier to shift.
That should pass a casual inspection and look sort of retro for somewhere around $150.

^^^^^ 8-speed cassette will never look '70s retro. That would be a giveaway.
But ultimately, as already stated, nothing will make that bike look right for the part, from any distance, given the slope of its top tube.

I'd buy something like a Schwinn Le Tour.
You can buy them by the boat load.
Then paint and mod to your needs.
Or, I'd think just about any vintage lugged frame could be painted to match your needs... just don't sell them as top of the line Raleigh frames.
Choose some old Suntour deraileurs or something, then hop on E-Bay and buy a bucket or two of them.
Your local co-op.
You'll spend a day sourcing parts, but should have a reasonably cheap and nice outcome.

As a person who builds props/sets for shows (theater.. not movies) i'd say if you are looking to much at the prop, then the movie is not doing its job. There will be heck to pay in the vintage bike crowd, but luckily 99.99 of those watching the movie could care less and it will be fine except on forums such as this.

How to do it the #disrespectedcinema way:
Get some black Oracal vinyl and some gold automobile trim stripes. Get the first gold Raleigh decals you can get your hands on, or peel off the ones on the production bike if you can. Make black downtube and top tube bands a-la Raleigh Grand Prix with the black vinyl, and trim the ends in gold. Stick gold Raleigh decals on top. Spray bomb all dark bits chrome silver.
Done, profit made.
We will all wait patiently to b!tch at the prop department when the show comes out.

It sounds like someone has been working on the movie for years, then moments before starting filming, decided to track down some critical components of the movie.
It depends a bit on the target year, but I'd go to the producer and tell them that you simply can't make a 1970's bike out of a 2019 bike. 1980's or 1990's? Maybe. TIG vs Lugged & Brazed?
I've seen movies where it is not uncommon for minor details to change in central props as the movie progresses. I think I saw one low budget film where they swapped two very different white cars in part because they wanted different effects from each car.
So, you would probably be OK if the size of your frames was close, lugs were similar, but not necessarily exact, etc.
And, few will be able to tell the difference between a Raleigh and a Peugeot if painted alike with a Raleigh headbadge affixed.

It sounds like the bikes will be heading to a dumpster, if one only knew where and when.
But, that still leaves the question of where the new-pull parts that are unused will be headed.
Props for the next show when the producers will give the OP a pile of 1970's frames and ask him to make 2020 TDF road bikes out of them?

3) Friction DT shifters (if possible to mount)--or--bar-end shifters for the classic but still-full function

Raleigh of America, take this picture under advisement. Your ruby red frameset has just been massively improved in looks.
Now do something about that freaking top tube, Raleigh. The amount of seattube that sticks out past the top tube negates all but 1" of the slope to begin with.

Why not pay some local BF person to use thier bike as the prop for the money shots and use your 2019 bike as the one that gets trashed...a stunt double as it were, good luck OP
