Life span ic carbon frame

2008 C2C 928
My beautiful Bianchi is now 10 years old i know that carbon if not damaged can last a lifetime but.... it could use paint to refresh.
i am struggling with selling for peanuts or give the old girl a new paint job.

I would like new bike but lack the $$ to do so. New paint can give back new life and improve my shame could upgrade parts but old ugly frame plus new fancy stuff = silly 🙃

A part of your answer is whether the components that the old bike can fit will keep you happy for long enough compared to those that a new bike will have, disc brakes. 11+ count rear cogs, 1x cranks and more. Andy

Ride as is. Take the money you saved by not getting a paint job or new bike and take a bike vacation to an exotic land. That's what I would do anyways.

If you have the means, paint it.

The frame doesn't look bad and the 928 is a pretty bike.

Mavic wheels will accept an 11 speed cassette. Put a modern 105 or Ultegra group on it and ride it.

Looks great. 10 years? My newest bike is 13, the oldest a 32 year old Pinarello with paint that makes yours look brand new. If you're happy with how it rides, just buy yourself some new wheels or a new group. I gave my now 24 year old an 11 speed group in 2016 and a set of Zonda wheels - seems like a new bike.

Im leaning that way it has 105 that works well but adds heft, newer stuff would make it lighter but the newer disc super able new bikes are amazing. The frame looks great still and comfy so smooth
thanks

What exactly is your question?

If you like your bike as is but want a new paint job, then paint it.

If you want a new bike with the latest doo-dads, than get a new bike.

My newest bike is 19 years old. Old stuff still doing the job is cool (IMO). Spruce up the Bianchi as you see fit (paint job or new bits) and ride it with pride. I imagine one day I’ll spring for a powder coat for the Litespeed, just to give it a bit of an upgrade, but replace it? Never. Looks good with a little patina, works great and fits like a glove. Old gear still bringing it FTW

Great as in sleek lines rather than the finish or just the finish?
If it looks great, then why paint it?

If you have the means to paint it, then by all means do so. That said, a good paint job would mean a lot of work. Stripping it down, scuff sanding the entire frame, cleaning completely prior to painting...
Myself, I have top quality spray guns and could easily BC/CC a frame once it has been prepped but the prep is the tedious part.

Despite being made of organic compounds, it was never alive.

+1 on upgrade the groupset.

I did this to a BH running several generations old Shimano 105 last year, and it was like a new bike. Amazing.
