Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Show Us Your Generic Carbon Fiber Bike Build

I believe it is time for some of our Ebay carbon fiber bike builds to be seen in one area. I've heard lots of awesome builds but we all know that the search function is an ass pain.

Plus I am trying to do my own build and get some ideas and benefit from others' experience.

If you've got nothing to contribute but the same old tired argument about why ebay frames blow and such...don't bother

BF pic protocol applies

Not quite the no-name eBay frame. It's a Columbus SL, same frame that Cinelli paints, decals and sells as the Willin' SL. Bought as a year-end tax closeout from a frame shop in Colorado. All other parts moved over from a steel frame that will be on CL or eBay soon. Frame was bare CF; had a local body shop shoot it with clearcoat and found the vinyl frame logos on-line. Total out of pocket was WAY under a grand...

Here's mine: Element Six frameset, BB30, 1.5-1.125" tapered headtube, 880 gram frame. Built up with SRAM Red/Force mix, Psimet carbon clincher wheelset with Powertap rear hub. 15.xx lbs. with the "heavy" wheels.

Is that a seat or a piece of paper? Seriously is that seat comfy and what brand/model is it?

My saddle pictured is a Hed V04, sold with their TT frames, as far as I know. I picked it up last year and rode it for a while, finally dumped it in favor of a bare carbon SLR, which is more comfortable. The Hed saddle would be great if the edges were a bit rounded..it tended to cut into the sides of my legs on long rides. The SLR that's on there now is just as minimalist but it's very comfortable.

PedalForce RS/ADK/Litespeed Pavia frame with Centaur and AC 350s. Somewhere around 16 pounds, and I spent $1400.

Agreed.

I should have titled this "Generic Carbon Frame Build". Some of the components on these are not exactly budget.

Cool to see what BF members can do!
