Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Does it work independent of Strava? I remember checking it the first time you mentioned it, but somehow remember it relying on Strava to work. I do have a Strava account but being a general all around grouch and anti-social, had hardly ever uploaded anything.

When I looked this morning, I saw that it works with Garmin Connect. Not sure about Wahoo. Does not work with Wahoo at this time.

I like intervals.icu but I don’t think I understand how to use it to its full advantage yet.

And I'm a little gun shy because I'm 63 now. Because I've been spending so much time in Z1-4, the way you feel after a Z5 effort was a little...scary. After one particularly hard effort on Zwift, I felt kinda nauseated, heart pounding, etc. - which, really, is how you SHOULD feel after a hard effort!

I believe you can now upload to it directly, but haven’t tried.

I’m finding my fitness isn’t increasing despite the structured workouts from TR. not really sure why that’s happening.

Interesting. When I get my indoor trainer I was planning on getting trainer road too.
Only issue I see is A. I’m not training for an event, just trying to be the strongest rider I can be, B. With my job it would be hard to follow the structure programs, and at the end of the day If I only have three days to ride I want to ride.

I don’t think I will ever understand how to use it, but the lure of extra data appeals to my err, vanity for lack of a better term.

Been there, done that half way thru a commute 5-6 years ago. Wasn’t a comfortable day in terms of working and riding back home that evening. Not an experience I’d like to repeat.

As as indicated on intervals? Don't forget that fitness is a matter of intensity and time. If you're not doing workouts longer than 1 hour you will never have a workout load more than 100.

You mean you’re not getting faster? Your CTL is certainly rising.

What are you using as a judgment for fitness?
Fatigue over fitness?

The fitness number isn’t really rising that much, but maybe I’m expecting too much

we may be doing a bit better than Mo. if you don’t count parts, supplies, repairs, replacements, and fees, we are at about -9% per year over 10 years. If you add in all the other stuff, then I’m never retiring.

Why not invest in several of them?

Got in 25 real miles. High 20s and sunny. Beautiful day

I retract my previous ambivalence towards bar-end shifters. On this bike at least, they are so much better than downtube shifters. Maybe I like them more because they're indexed and my previous ones were friction.

I was a bit worried about knee strike but it looks like that won't be an issue.

Just don't run 39mm bars.

Had a chilly but fantastic ride. Six riders, cold and very windy, but the company and bright sunshine warmed my heart.
