Faggin frame arrived today.

This Faggin frame has a true 60mm, center to center, seat tube with a 57mm c-to-c top tube. It uses a 26.8mm seat post and has a 128mm rear axle measurement. The entire rear triangle has been chrome plated (possibly the whole frame). Both frame and chrome fork uses Gipiemme dropouts with fender mounts. The tire space between the chainstays measures 32mm so I may be able to use a 25 ,or possibly 28, section tire. Frame weighs 5lb.3oz. Fork weighs 1lb.13oz.

The outside diameter of the seat tube, where the front derailleur clamps, measures 28.8 (including paint). With a 26.8 seat post (and paint thickness), I would think that the wall thickness of the seat tube would be approximately .8mm. I'm guessing Columbus Aelle tubing.

The top tube has three cable guides running along the bottom. You don't see that too often. Seems to me, the frame might be a concession to aero brake levers and cassette rear hubs (130mm).

I don't feel any spiraling inside any tubes. I'll leave it to you guys to help me figure out exactly what tubing was used.

Any help with identification will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much.

My guess is Aelle tubing also due to the post size. That, along with Gipiemme dropouts likely make this a mid-level frame.

I can't really ID it myself, as Faggin is one of those smaller Italian builders whose name likely held it back from being a big name here in the States! But I do know they are pretty highly regarded, although not quite up there with Clonago's or DeRosa's or Pinarellos.

Was this a repaint?

They are still a going concern as a small family business - why don't you email them? - They have responded to my previous enquiries - very helpful. I agree - an unfortunate name when 'Anglicised' - but beautiful bikes.

It has very good paint but probably not a repaint (nothing visible under the dings). Has no decals, "Faggin" engraved on the top of the seat-stays and bottom bracket and "397E" on the bottom of the bottom bracket.
