Next rider in NYC? Please help

HI everyone

I´m spanish 27 years old boy who will move to NYC in september and i´ll live here for one year at least, I´m very excited with this new proyect in my life but one of the things I don´t wanna leave in Spain is my bike and my hobby.
I wanted to know if it´s a good idea to bring my bike with me. I guess that I wouldn´t be the only person who loves cycling in New York so I wanted to know if there are organized rides out of the city, cycling clubs or something like that

Thanks for reading, I hope to see you in NYC

Yes New York City has a very active cycling community. There are several clubs who organize rides around and out of the City, miles and miles of bike lanes, bike races, and this summer we'll have BikeShare. You'll need a good lock and it's a good idea to wear a helmet but you should definitely bring your bike.

Here are some links to get you started:

I´m from a city near to Basque Country
I´ll bring my bike with my surely, but not to move in NY, I couldn´t be calm with my 3000$ bike locked outside my work or the gym. I wanna ride about 3h-4h on my freedays, I hope to find people to do that
