I looked at Google and there's really no shoulder you can ride on. It's two lanes and narrow for quite a while.

I took 9W north beyond Piermont and south of Grandview once and wound up turning back because it just looked too dangerous. Not only are there no shoulders but the road turns in some places leaving almost no visibility. I remember seeing a flattened raccoon in the road and thinking I didn't want to wind up that way too. I guess that's why many cyclists seem to use River Road and Piermont Ave which Google indicates is the State Bike Route.

Ok, a lot of people recommended the 9W but you guys talked me out of taking 9W from the GW to here

So, can I get a little help please? Can someone make a Google map with a recommended route and link to it so I can see how to get from the GW to the point in the map I linked to?

In the past I have gone west and then north, but it's not a great ride. I'm from LI and not familiar with that area, so if someone who is familiar could assist it'd be greatly appreciated.

Exiting GWB make right on Hudson Terrace
left at palisades ave
right on 9w
at sign for Tallman park make right onto Rockland rd
at bottom Philip hill make rt onto ferndon through light onto river road.
Follow bike rt 9 signs through Nyack
lleft on old mountain rd.
right on 9w. Traffic can be heavy and shoulder narrow through Haverstaw but I would stay on 9w to your destination.

Any chance of u making me a Google map of that? I'm not very familiar with the landmarks and would like to load it on my GPS. Following bike route signs is something I really don't wish to do if it can be avoided.

You're kidding right?. How difficult is it to map it yourself?.

Jeez.

Much more difficult than asking someone local to do it, as I do for other in the area I live all the time, but thanks anyways.

Ride safe.
