modifying a steel 16" folder to imitate brompton.
i am prepared to get negative comments.
i will just ignore them.
the question is:
has anyone here with welding skills ever tried to modify a cheap steel 16" folder to fold like a brompton?i

We have only modernized an 16 years old brompton into Barcelona limited edition look-alike.

Considering the amount of effort it will take, why not just build your own frame modeled after a Brompton? A cheap bike will prolly be crappy hi-ten,if you start fresh you can use much better steel.

I do not really understand this post..if you are skilled enough to make one then go ahead..but make it a cross between a Bike Friday Tikit and a Brompton and you could make a fortune..

Pivot axis is behind the BB, whole rear sub assembly has bushings that are machined for alignment, after they are in the frame
with the reamer Brompton had custom made for the purpose .. Tikit folds at an angle, along side the main frame .
After you make all the assembly Jigs then the parts all fit better..
By all means, go for it, You First , Show your Work.
