Bike Thief gets owned

No real violence ...just a tackle.

The bike the thief was riding could have been someone else's bike too.

Looks staged to me. That would have to be one hell of a microphone that manages to pick up her voice clearly from about a block away and almost no ambient sound other than traffic rumble.I

Stunt guys' demo reel.

Clearly fake stunt guys' demo reel. Sound is wayyyyyyy too good, picking her voice up clearly from a block away without directionality.

Also, the camera position is implausible. No one would go through the trouble of installing and maintaining a roof camera with that quality audio and have it pointed so it doesn't show any of the property it's supposedly securing. By amazing coincidence, all of the action occurs in precisely that frame.

Could be a real theft. The sound is overdubbed, especially the sound of the bike crash...... it's not real.

I've watched a lot of security cam video in my job--it never looks like that, with all of the action nicely within the frame, even where the shoe lands.

That's obviously a staged stunt--he just happens to stop and fiddle around with stuff right in front of the camera that doesn't appear to be pointed at anything worth securing?

Seriously, if they overdubbed the sound, that tells you it's a production.

Please don't be so gullible. It's a nice piece of stuntwork, and a lousy piece of acting.

Sure, I'll get my bike back if given the opportunity, but not by crashing into it with another one of my bikes!

A lot of home videos on Fail Factory, Top Ten Videos and Funniest Home Videos turned in by amateurs has the sound dubbed. That doesn't mean the picture part is staged, it just means the audio part has Foley work to enhance it so it plays better.

Oh, c'mon. Give it up, it's fake. Faking dialogue is just one of many reasons it's obvious.

I get that you want to believe, but quit ignoring the obvious.

Obviously trained stunt people are obvious. They're very good at that part.

In case you didn't catch it, the "thief" positioned himself so he could land on the grass.

I thought it was pretty good acting. Maybe not scripted all that well. Both walking back to the bikes and the part right after that looked a little weak.

Tackling guy had a rather stilted cadence as if he was trying to remember lines, but he wasn't awful. The "thief" was just trying too hard to look pathetic, and didn't really pull off being stunned by a surprise hit at all. For some reason they have a little coda at the end where the tackle is slowed down. That makes it obvious he shifted his stance a little bit right before supposedly being blindsided

Granted, but IMO they sold it pretty well after getting up. The girlfriend screaming at him at the end, I could see it going down that way as well. I wonder if they produced it as a stunt demo, a portfolio for one of them.

Might also be a film school class project. It's actually a neat bit of staging, everybody hits their marks perfectly. Oddly, that part's too good to be plausible as a security video, but it makes it pretty entertaining.

The final cut is also a different camera angle, and a different camera.
