Gotta a Specialized e bike, Good and bad

Gotta a Specialized Vado SL 5.0 EQ, top of the ebike food chain, my big splurge. Oh man, rides just like a smooth analogue bike only faster. I mean it just rides so natural. I would know how fast I was going but the DAMN speedo guage comes with NO INSTRUCTIONS anywhere to be found. DRAT ! What kind of company charges $4500 and no freaking instructions for this. And the rest of the manual is prehistoric generic crap like a Walmart bike. What gives? But oh what a clean natural electric ride.

I have the Vado 5.0 also and it is a very impressive bike. But yeah that speedo / display thing is terrible. There are some instructions on how to do the setup, however I have not been able to change it from KM to MPH.

so I use my garmin.

I agree this aspect of the bike is a downer.

All documentation has moved on line. Not necessarily a bad thing IMO

Nice bike.

I have a similar problem on my ebike, I plan on getting a regular old school speedo.

Can't the guys at the shop where you purchased your bike help you set it up? Seems like something that they should do as part of the purchase experience.

Right around page 12 they have basic info on using the TCD.

https://media.specialized.com/suppor...0000115667.pdf

The manual for the TCD can be downloaded from the TCD product page:

https://media.specialized.com/suppor...0000108340.pdf

Switching units appears in System Setup, though the instructions don't really list that in the text, you can see it in one of the displays in the manuals when they show you the sequence for changing the settings.

Short story:
  • left button for 5 seconds
  • press both L+R together to move through the various settings until you get to UNITS
  • use L or R separately to change the setting to Imperial or Metric

Ehh the manuals usually are pretty generic for most bikes I don't really bother with them at this point. TCD is pretty easy to use but the shop should go through that with you. At our shop we have a process of showing people the bike and answering questions and setting up Mission Control with them (or really showing them how to use it as they should set it up beforehand). Ho hum, it happens but you did get a great bike.

I am looking at getting one myself at some point.
