Hello All
Just sayin hey, my wife and I are very new to biking, just gettin our bikes today, we are gonna be riding mostly for fun and fitness. We will definitely be looking for some support from you folks with experience.

I started out riding for fun and fitness in 2008. Those are still my primary priorities. But it has expanded. I have met some great people to ride with, use biking to connect my my kids and their spouses on charity rides and it is good for clearing the mind of clutter.
I remember when 6 miles wore me out in the early days. It has been fun and I now ride because I love it.

Fun and fitness are good! Never forget the "fun" part. Once cycling ceases to be fun gotta move on!

Welcome! I ride for fitness and to eliminate car commuting. I started last year, got rid of one of our two cars last October, and have lost 60 pounds and gotten in my best shape since the 80's. And had fun. Enjoy the rides!

Fun and fitness is where I started as well. Now both are defined differently than they were then. As fitness improves so should your fitness goals imho. Fun now includes pushing my body to see how far or fast I can go. That said the easy 3-8 mile rides with my 7yo are still fun. Welcome to Bike Forums, hope you enjoy the company.

Thanks everyone for the welcome. We picked up our bikes on Friday, a Fuji Absolute for her, a GT Transeo for me. We rode 10 miles Friday and 15 this morning, felt tired but good, we are both very excited about riding. I am 5'8" and pushing 240, and 48 years old. We are soon to be empty nesters so we are also excited on finding activities we can do together. Again thanks for the welcome, I will throw pics up soon.
