In search of a cargo kick scooter
Can we talk about cargo kick scooters please? Wasn't sure where to post- commute? car free? utility? not even a bike, yikes so just picked the general forum
Cargo scooters are such a great idea!!!!! Where the heck are they? Ideal for short commutes, market, errands etc without having to wear a backpack or when one does not feel like lugging her beloved but hefty Oma for a 1/2 mile grocery run. I love walking but I hate to carry anything when walking.
The only company that comes up is called Nimble- they have the most adorable Classic and Urban scooters. I am seriously drooling over the Urban scooter as it folds (somewhat) and can carry my huge multi-meals bag plus other stuff. The Classic has a huge bucket that can swallow small kids- kinda too huge for my needs but freakin adorable!
I think GREAT! They are a local SoCal company- I wanna buy!!!! But apparently I'm 2 years too late I can't get a hold of this company. The bicycle stores they listed either closed or does not carry Nimble scooters anymore.
Does anyone know about this company- what happened to them? or know about other cargo scooters? I think its such a fantastic idea, amirite?
I've seen others made specifically for smooth concrete warehouse floors- my commute involves broken glass, potholes, heaved sidewalks...

searched scooter forums- not much came up there too. the Nimble company responded to a few queries and posted some few years back but nothing more.
I think that niche is being taken up by the electric cargo bike.
I was even thinking of making one using a jogger stroller( yes for babies) and somehow attach a scooter deck or skateboard but i think it would be too large anyways.

You're not going to get much info/feedback on BF because, as you said, not even a bike, yikes

Sounds like it's time to break out the tools and get to work. If it were me, I'd probably start with a high quality scooter and modify from there. A talent for welding would certainly be a good thing, but with some creativity you might be able to cobble together a bolt up version.

There was a video making the rounds on FB a year or two ago showing a sort of longboard stroller.
I have a Bob jogger and I don’t think it would be a good one for a home made scooter because it doesn’t have steering, just a caster. They and several other strollers have an accessory available for a preschooler to ride behind, so that’s some kind of start.

We had a basic unit like this at work. The front wheels didn't steer; the bars were fixed to the cart, and the 'tail' would swing to provide the steering.
A single seat jogger or bike trailer would probably be a good base, but you'd want the biggest wheels you can find on it.
Would be wide, though. And heavy.

That's the closest I can come, this being a BIKE forum and all.
