One thing I discovered when dipping my toes into the vintage cycling world is that maybe 50% of the vintage cycling parts you find on Ebay have "Eroica" added to the listing title. I was mystified by this at first, but then I learned that the Eroica rides are ways you can take your ever-so-painstakingly put together vintage bike, with parts you've sourced from all over the world at great expense, and then ride it on crappy roads and shake it to bits! What a concept!!!
Sadly, the C'dale is too young to qualify, so I'll miss out on the excitement of riding a bike that makes a smooth road seem 'textured' on unpavement. Oh, well. I'll struggle on somehow.

Yup. 1x13. Three cassette choices; 9-38, 9-42, 10-44. I'd probably go with a 42T chainring and a 9-42 cassette.

Wheels are somewhere between Illinois and here. I keep seeing people using Michelin Dynamic Classics for vintage builds because they're gumwalls, but they list for $20/ tire and generally seem to sell for a lot less, so do I really want a cheap-ass tire on a bike that's already hard riding? No I do not. And I'm not going to get the special "TdF" version of GP5000s, either! Black tires are good enough for me.

It became quite the meme, didn't it?
I was active there for a few years, had a lot of fun, learned a hell of a lot, got some great race rides, and made a bunch of real-life friends, but the racism, homophobia, and misogyny eventually ran me off. I still do find this place a little tame though.

I was on there for a number of years, back in the day. Learned a lot about rigging and performance sailing, but eventually got tired of it as well. I haven't posted on there in over 10 years or so. I go back every once in a while to see if there is anything new or interesting in the sailing world or if I run into a dead end fixing something, but find the site has pretty much jumped the shark.

Speaking of which, even though I have some Michelin Power Road TLRs that should last me through the year, I'm really itching to buy some of the Pirelli TLRs, too. Mostly because, well... retail therapy... but also because I'm trying to tell myself that I'm not going to find these (or a comparable TLR tire) again for $55/ea any time soon. I mean, what if we go from the quasi-apocalypse to the real-deal apocalypse? Where am I going to get tires to see me through pleasant Wednesday centuries?!
There is also a TLR version, but decided not to do that since most of our roads are pretty decent.
