I’ve been in a real funk lately. My wife and I overdid our riding a couple weeks ago and then the weather turned bad about the time that I could tell that I need a rest and I thought a few days off would make me feel better but it seemed to make things worse. So, basically, I had a week of tv, junk food snacking, and looking outside at cold, rainy, plain miserable weather. Tried to ride one day and absolutely hated it. Depression spiral.
Yesterday, my “old&slow” group was having a ride but the weather was still crap and I didn’t want to go but my wife forced me to. I have to admit that the slow 22+ mile urban ride helped a lot. Glad that I went.
March and April weather is the worst in my opinion; a cycle of a few warm beautiful days followed by horrendous weather from the crappiest stuff the Nature ***** can throw out.

Sometimes, an extended period (by our standards) off of the bike can make it tough for me to get back on, too, but it's almost always a good idea in hindsight.
The other thing that I don't like about the weather this time of year is the handwringing over apparel choices for these 'tweener temps. Tights? Knickers? Jacket or jersey and vest?! I think that that just adds another mental hurdle to getting out, sometimes.

Still haven't decided which ride to do. One club is doing a ride I don't care for and it looks like only 5 riders are coming. The other club has 5 rides on schedule but no way to tell who is coming because nobody uses the web roll call thing. Some (3) friends are starting at 9:30 but arrogant guy is going to be there. I hear he has tried to make himself more tolerable after he got a talking to. Time to decide is very near.

Took Mom to get her first shot yesterday, but didn't realize the Walmart that we got the appointment at was one that some guy set a fire in the other day! We came to find out that all the doses were taken to another Walmart, so she got her jab eventually.
I also had a 3:10 appointment to get minivan #1 registered again. I get there at 3:08 and there's a big line for people with appointments. After the second person was allowed in, I did some calculations and it looked like an hour and a half wait. Uh no, I didn't bring any water or snacks for this ****.
Get home and try to get a first-thing-in-the-morning appointment some other day, the website is not working, so I call and after 20 minutes wait come to find out they can't set appointments either because "the system is down".
OH well, minivan #1 needs control arms up front anyway, guess I probably shouldn't be driving it all over the desert with wandering steering, even though I've had plenty of practice driving cars like that.

Yesterday I ended up taking the Bianchi ("Plastic Fantastic") because 1) it was closest to the door, 2) the Cannondale ("Jackhammer") is more of a sunny, warm day bike, and 3) It had been on the trainer and I wanted to let it run free

Still thinking of a name for the Circuit, but I'll have to build it and ride it before I make a final decision. I'm leaning toward "Short Circuit", since it's a smaller size than I'm used to riding....

There was another Schwinn Circuit, up in Sacramento, that was pink. But I'm almost certain it was candyapple red like mine originally, and had just spent too many years outside in the sun. I can only imagine the state of the rubber on the brake hoods - mine are ever-so-slightly sticky when wet.
