Must stems and seatposts match in color??

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Must stems and seatposts match in color??

I've read the rules which i find completely snobby and awesome but nowhere are stem and seatpost color discussed. Can a silver deda stem be used with a black thomson post?? frame is silver metallic flake.....

How closely does the stem match the frame?

Id assume that'd be okay. As long as nothing is way off and there is some dance of unity in the rig.

If they fit . . . use 'em!
When riding you can't see the seatpost . . . so who cares except maybe the 'fashion police'?

Stem and seatpost mismatch is okay by me, but stem and bar mismatch just bugs me. I has to be black stem with black bars, silver stem with silver bars, gold stem with gold bars . . . . mix and match just doesn't work from my view.

Ok but what if the top of the headtube is white so you want to put white spacers and top cap above it, so if you do that you also need a white stem. And then you have black bars but you put white bar tape/hoods on that, so all that is showing is a few inches of black bar?

Out of the bar/stem/post combo...I typically like two of the three to match. At least that how I had it on my Cannondale. I had the bar and post match.

Since I got the Cervelo...its got an aero post...so the matching went out the window.

How much will it bother you if they don't match? Just make sure that your team kit matches the bike

Matching stem/seatpost makes you more aero and gives you a power level that's over 9000

No offense but I think the white stem really takes a lot away from your bike.

Its not about the bike is the cyclists 7 th commandment, brought down from some mountain during one of 7 tours. It should be stamped next to the serial number or on your forehead, whichever is closer.Cosmetics are there for fellow riders to admire and for you when your not riding.Even ugly bikes gotta have a little fun, concentrate on cadence! Now pretty cadence is worthy of admiring !

Erm.

Rule #4 / It’s all about the bike.

It is, absolutely, without question, unequivocally, about the bike. Anyone who says otherwise is obviously a twatwaffle.

Since we're talking about matching......
This bike looks really cool, but that bar tape is simply the wrong color. I realize it's hard to match, but that blue is just incorrect. (Is that Fizik's Metal Blue color?) Hopefully it's just the lighting, and I'm going on about nothing.

I will add that this bike is currently the only bike in this thread where the silver stem doesn't look stupid.
