This is my trusty old Bianchi Rekord road bike on which I've been commuting for 6 years in its original form. It had a Shimano Exage Motion group, with a 6 speed freewheel. The parts almost fell apart in time. Almost all the cogs lost some teeth as they grew old. In the last year of commuting on it, I was using it as a single speed, as I was left with only one usable gear (ok, two, because the chainrings were good). The bottom bracket axle race got so pitted in time that it had a huge play. It squeaked at some point, but I just poured some oil through the water bottle cage holes and it went away. I was so ignorant regarding bikes back then that I never did any maintenance on it. But eventually this bike started my passion for classic steel frames. For its restoration I started gathering tools and reading Sheldon Brown. I tore it apart and cleaned everything, noticing how the bb and hub cones were shot.
But the project stalled, as a Francesco Moser and an Olmo arrived last year in the stable. Eventually I retired the parts that once were my Bianchi to my grandma's house in the countryside. But then my uncle asked me if I had the pats to get it running again so him and me could use it as a country bike. Cool! I swapped the cones with better ones from a Miche hub, got rid of the oxidized spokes, polished the rims, polished the front hub, the stem and seatpost, got a new flip-flop hub (my uncle likes coasting), rebuilt the wheels with new spokes (my first wheels!) and got a pair of 35C wide tyres. Cream. Another thing I had laying around was a Brooks saddle. I had a voucher from a bike shop my girlfriend-at-the-time gave me. I was riding a low end aluminum mountain bike back then (that was even before buying the Bianchi) and I thought this saddle would look so special on it. It didn't. So the saddle spent seven years in a drawer. I think here looks ok, but I'd change it with something more vegetarian (and less boring, imo).
It was Sunday when I took the pictures, so the bike shops were closed. Hence, no brake cable.

I've looked at a great many pics here in the Jackass forum, and the Bike Porn one. It's refreshing to see one that is about as far as can be from both of those.

I came across these racks the other day.
There are two models. There is the Velo Wall Rack and the Velo Wall Rack 2D.
The non-2d is better suited to a garage or other work area.
The 2D model comes with a nice face plate, definitely better for storing the bike in the living space. That is what is pictured above. It is a few dollars more than the non-2d model. Also comes in silver. I might get one for my fixed gear bike.
