Have question regarding a 2016 Giant Defy
Can someone tell me If this 2016 Giant Defy bike comes with QR or Thru-axle? Also I assume it’s post mount brakes? My buddy just picked up this frame brand new from his dealer for $200. We plan on building it with Shimano 105 R7020 hydraulic groupset and Fulcrum Racing 4 wheels. Total price should be around $1300.

It's QR. The difference is quite noticeable when you have the frame in front of you.
I think TA was introduced in 2017.

QR axles and post mount discs. (full disclosure.... 25,000km+ on a 2016 Defy....)
I just swapped out my stock 140mm discs to 160mm discs using an AVID adapter for the clearance. Evidently they do make adapters to convert post mount to flat mount if you ever need to salvage the brakes for a newer build as well.

Heres the frame with modeling wheels off my Madone. It's a good looking frame.
