Just A Small-town Move... Living In A Bike Filled World

What a week! After 6+/- hours of sleep I am still exhausted and stiff. Morticia and I have been moving most of the last two weeks after work and yesterday was the day to move the big stuff. Storage locker to my new flat, my sister’s house to the new flat and back to her place for the bikes and stands.

It was chilly yesterday

The stupid handtruck almost ruined my plan

Ready to roll

I am sure there was a smarter better way to do this but expedience was more important.

Living room, if I ever put it up the TV goes on the little book case.

The garage, what a mess. Since the whole purpose of getting this apartment was the garage these bikes can't stay here. I recycled part my huge wood rack to hang the wheels on but I think there is a pair or two that may have to go.

The apartment came with pannier storage hooks

Glad you're in. Tough job, especially now when getting friends to help out with the aid of pizza and beer probably isn't a viable option.

Moving sucks. But I do like setting up new space. I like what you did. Where's the ephemera for the walls?

Thanks. My big pics are still at my sister's place. I kinda need to check the lease about holes in the walls. Maybe I need the Super to come hang them.
My sister suggested a bike or maybe just a frame over the kitchen cabinets. Maybe one of those Raleigh USA frames with all the chrome?

When I see Ft Wayne in your sig. All I can think about is Don Hall's by the river. I grew up in Muncie and made family trips up there almost every weekend.

I love how little room you have left for the tv! Bikes are always more important.

I only bought a TV because it was a great deal, no cable so just broadcast TV and hopefully Chromecast Youtube. If the weather ever warms up I’ll hopefully be riding most evenings.

BG,
I'm glad you are finally settled in. Moving is tough enough without the hassles of Shelter in Place order. I'm starting the fifth week of quarantine here in Bloomington, and it is getting old. I get to build wheels today to keep from going bonkers! Strange how the little things seem like big deals in these strange times.
Have fun doing the decorating the way you want it. Smiles, MH

Thanks. Fortunately I am somehow essential so I am still out and about. My sister has been mostly working at home since I had a bad cold, maybe Corona Lite, since mid March. The schlepping was a bit much for her but she was glad to be out of the house!

I am impressed- an apartment with what appears to be an attached and private garage.

in Southern California apartments usually get a carport space, or space in a whole complex underground garage... old apartments might have a garage space with an individual door but detached, and maybe 1x wood strips between the spaces.

Congratulations, Bianchigirll!
I’m about to make a big move myself. Necessitated, in part, by my ridiculous and ever-expanding bike “collection.”
I am not looking forward to it...

Thanks I call it my “deluxe apartment on the ground”

It is a private garage! It is actually a “retirement community” which basically means over a certain age. It isn’t the fanciest of places but for a small in apartment washer/dryer, ice maker (finally) and a garage, that Morticia fits in, the price is competitive with fancier larger places without a garage.

No snow shoveling, frost scraping, dashing from the car in the rain, lawn care, or the sound of neighbors lawn care all weekend!
