The original Biopace clocking is the blue line. Rotating back one hole, now lines up the ovality with the AbsoluteBlack clocking shown by the pink line. (as indicated by the bump on the black chainring)

The steeper one position off gives more extreme offset power effect of 17% as opposed to 7% requires one be master of cadence and shifting with tree trunk legs just a bit too much for me. I have strong legs and good shifting ability but would really struggle with the over clocked rings.

Besides shifting the orientation of the Biopace rings away from the default position, I also felt different results with different crank lengths. Usually I don't notice any difference between 170 and 172.5 cranks, but did with the Biopace rings. The 172.5 cranks made the Biopace rings feel more surge-y and herky-jerky and caused some minor knee pain. I preferred the 170 cranks with Biopace. Just an odd quirk, nothing I'd noticed with regular round rings before or since. But I suspect that might explain why some folks get along fine with Biopace while others dislike them and report knee pain. Might be due to a crank length not quite optimized for them.

I have a bike project with 175 cranks in the works and might try the Biopace rings on that bike for awhile just to test my theory.
