Gears range help please...
Hi all..
I have an issue with gear range.
Its a Tiagra 10 speed rear derailleur with matching shifters and I've had to replace the derailleur, the hanger, and chain. All due to a broken chain on a very steep hill ripping through the old derailleur and bending the hanger. (which was also replaced).
issue.. The gear shift won't go all the way to the top and bottom. I have to use cable adjust to move either and it away from its opposite.
What has been done.
Adjusted the top and bottom screws so they are perfectly in line range wise.
Set the cable while the chain is on the bottom and big from ring.
Checked the shifters go through all 10 smoothly.
So what's stopping the range from getting to all rings?
Thank you.

Are you sure you got the right replacement rear derailleur? If I understand your issue, it sounds like cable pull of shifter and RD could be mismatched. But that's just one of several possibilities.

Thanks for replying all.
The derailleur is spot on. 10 seed SS an exact replacement. Checked the shifters today and it seemed there was cable treads in the shifting mech so pulled it out with tweezers. Cable is placed correctly.
I'm going for a WD40 clean on the shifters to see if it's just not holding. Its Shimano which is renowned for getting fuzzed up.
Any other advice please let me know. The only thing left is the shifter that I can imagine.

There are 2 different versions of Tiagra 10 speed ss derailleurs, 4600 series and 4700 series. They are not compatible with each other which is what one person was probably referring to

Thanks all
Well, not sure why they aren't compatible, perhaps its the shift movement on the 4701 but it looks like either a shifter change or a another derailleur..
Bugger!!!
Thanks for the help.
