Front derailleurs mounting on the crank/bottom bracket?
What's the proper name for this type of derailleur mounting? Haven't seen many bikes with this type of derailleur mounting, but I have seen chain guides like this. What's the reason this style isn't more popular? I was thinking maybe this mounting type wouldn't fall out of alignment as easily, and also there would be no clamp digging into the aluminum/carbon seat tube. Seems like a solid choice to me. What makes it not as popular as the ones that sit on the seat tubes?

"E" type, although you will also find when you look for E type it'll direct you to newer "direct mount" types unlike this.

I hope that you like your big chainring size because, if you want a bigger one, there's no way to raise your derailleur.
