Park chain tool CT 3.3

I busted the pin on its first chain break. Yes my fault I didn’t have it lined up properly but I hardly put any force on the tool and the pin bent. I since ordered replacement pins. Got out my antiquated chain tool and it did job. 25 years of biking I never once broke a chain tool. If it wasn’t lined up straight I could tell right away and adjust it. I’m just surprised.

Are you sure you "busted" the pin? Or did it just un-thread itself and drop out?

You will bend/break any chain tool if you do not align it properly, the pins are not designed to resist side forces.

I don't like the replaceable pins. Would rather have a pin that stays in the tool. Nothing like having to use a chain tool by the side of the road and the pin falls out!

I love that Park tool sells replacement parts. I have a Park floor pump (15+ years) and the head leaks and sometimes doesn't auto switch between Presta and Shrader. But for $2.99, I can get a replacement head unit and the pump will be good as new!

This chain tool is for the garage I used my mini tool to fix the chain after I broke the push pin. The replacement threads into the tool and stays in place. I didn’t line it up right and broke it. Next time I will put the chain under a brighter light. Replacement pins like on Shimano chains I don’t care for so I use KMC.

I would rather use a drop of loctite 222 as a preventative than risk tossing a $30 tool that I could have fixed for four dollars.
