105 RD-5701 GS with Dura Ace 7900 Shifters
I know this subject has been hashed to death over the years so please forgive me. But I want to run a 32T Cassette. I am about to pull the trigger on a 105 RD-5701 GS 10 Speed Road Rear Derailleur Medium Cage. I have Dura Ace 7900 shifters. I currently have a Dura Ace 7900 RD with an 11-28 cassette. 50/34 on the front.
Will this work? And will I notice any difference in shifting quality?

There is a fair chance that you'll be able to use the 32T cog but it will depend on the configuration of your bike. The RD is fully compatible with your shifters and it's unlikely you will be able to tell a difference.

Yes, try it first. If it doesn't work set your limit screw so it won't go onto the 32 and use it that way until you get the new derailleur. Or just put the old cassette back on.

just make sure you can do big/big also in this situation doing small/small chain sizing will give you the most amount of chain to work with

Thanks very much for the replies guys. I picked up a used 105 RD-5701 for next next to nothing. The seller isn't sure if it is SS or GS. Are there any identifying features to tell them apart? I see the SS can take a 30T and GS a 32T. So either way it's a win.
