Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Couldn't even afford the floor mats for the 911 turbo I wanted for my mid-life crisis, so I swapped out one of my BMX Cruisers for this:

Haha I know I know. I had the red ones on my last enve build, even though they weren't by choice. I liked them and it worked well, but with my new bike being all black, I really wanted to go black this go around.

Nothing fun or exciting. A couple of dry fit skull caps for catching sweat under the helmet. A new pair of tinted safety glasses with 2.0 cheaters in them because I can't see the damn garmin anymore. One new jersey.

Nice...very nice.

I ended up with November's alloy Pacenti's. A huge step up from RS10's.. in the back of my mind I was looking at carbunz.. but not in the budget.

Pearl Izumi barrier lite cycling cap (mainly for rainy conditions) still not sure I like the brim on it seems too large.

I saw your post about the November or Boyd. I almost reached out to you in a private message to offer you my enve's with Chris kings but figured it would still be out of your budget. Ended up selling them and saw you had already purchased your set.

You'll like those a whole lot. I have 3.4's laced with cx-ray spokes, although, to do it all over again, I might go with White Industry hubs over the R45s.

The sad part of it all, I just built up mtb wheels that were only a couple hundred grams heavier and cost $2k less, haha.

Yeah in hear white industries redesigned their internal Rachel system so they now have something like 48 teeth instead of their precious 24 or something like that.

Yeah, I've read there's more maintenance involved with the Chris Kings too, but mine still look and feel fine after almost a year, so I'm not going to mess with them yet.

Yeah the Chris kings can need some attention, but its usually once a year or every other year depending on the weather and miles you ride. I serviced mine each year I had them.

That's why my newest bike I ordered Cane Creek 110 because the seals are better than Chris King and it's cheaper than CK, so far after 3 seasons no problems and no service needed...but in all honesty any headset should last a very long time, all my headsets on all 7 bikes are just fine including one that has 29 seasons including plenty of rain (it's actually 32 seasons old but the last 3 years I haven't rode it) plus over 160,000 miles, and 6 of the 7 bikes are over 30 years old. So when I read reports that this or that headset only lasted a year or two maybe 3 I wonder why, are newer headsets that much inferior over ones made 30 years ago?

Headsets and hubs are suppose to be the most reliable parts on a bike with very little to go wrong, and should last at least 30 years.

Yeah its not that they don't last, it's more of just taking care of them to get maximum life and performs ce out of them.

[h=1]Castelli Elemento 2 7x(Air) Jacket[/h]awesome winter jacket, just a light wool base layer and I was comfortable down to -2°C, with a thick wool base layer down to -10°C.
excellent breath ability and a convenient inbuilt inner "shirt" to open the outer shell when it gets too warm without getting the cold wind directly into the base layer.

New wheels, all around 105 5800 group (minus the crank, which i may still get as i cant get over how ugly the silver now looks on my bike), easton ea90 carbon bars. Spent more on this upgrade than i did on the bike. Couldnt be happier
