Alloy frame?
Heya there!
Long time lurker, first time poster here.
Looks like I *may* potentially be a new member of this club as of an hour ago.
Just needing to make sure though.. as my purchase was off Craigslist. The guy said he bought it back in 2010, off bikesdirect, and I'm wondering if they ever happened to make a Mercier TT Stripper model with an Alloy frame, and not Reynolds steel. Because after picking it up, and tapping it all over once getting it home, it feels waaaay too light and *ping* sound is higher pitched when tapped (like an aluminum frame), instead of the dull thud you hear when flicking older more dense Chromolly bikes.
Am I just tripping, or is this frame a possible imposter?
Any serial number clues to look for?
pic pron from the ad attached.

Ok, I know I just posted a pic of this bike a few posts ago, but I've finally got it where I want it until parts start breaking:
As described above, with the addition of a 100mm Kalloy UNO stem. Phew.

Yup. By like 20mm. And less rise, too.
Eh, it wasn't too bad. Either that or it was so bad that it destroyed my ass-nerves and I didn't notice it. Probably the latter.
Thanks! I like it.

Looks like the former. It began in March of '11, having continued a thread that ran from June of '07 to March of '11. It looks like the assumption was that there would be so many Kilo TTs posted, they'd need another new thread in a year or two.

This may seem like a silly question but are the decals removable on the Kilo TT Pro?
...or are they under the clearcoat?
I really like the stripper's unbranded look but I do not like any of the current color options.

I'm pretty sure they're under the clearcoat and that's why the stripper is even offered. Check bikeisland.com, I believe they may still have some unlabeled (except for the headtube sticker) Kilo TT Pro frames available - I saw a few there the other week.

I ride a Stripper (heh... I said stripper) that I got in white. Never again. I have a white 18 passenger van too. Never again as well. I am actually sticker bombing the Kilo just to hide the crud a bit better between washes.

I never did publicly thank you for this!! They were great. Didn't use all of them, but I did use a bunch. Gotta post up a pic in the next day or two.

Mercier Kilo TT upgrades
Just ordered the Mercier Kilo TT from BD 2021 model.
Looking to replace the pedals ( 1/2" or 9/16" ) and handlebars, but unsure as to the sizing.
Specs for handlebar and stem:
Handlebar Alloy Track Bend, 420mm width, Silver (Standard clamp 26.0mm, not oversized)
Stem Alloy 3D Forged, 50cm= 90mm
I'm looking to get either riser bars or bull horn handlebars. Can I just order 26mm handlebars and fit it for this bike or would I need to also get a new stem?

Any handlebars with a 26.0mm clamping area will fit the stem, but you may want a different stem length, shorter for bullhorns, longer for risers.

25.4 < 26
I was able to find a 26 mm bullhorn handlebar online but couldn't find any 26 mm short stems, only 25.4mm. From my understanding and what I read online, it's a bad idea to install bigger handlebars even by .6 mm into smaller stem. If I were to just get a 25.4mm stem then I could get handlebars that fit ( found a bunch of 25.4 stems and handlebars online ).
Would a 25.4 stem even fit on my bike which originally came with a 26 stem?
