Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

It warmed up enough for the salt and ice melted to work a little today. What a sloppy mess.

There has been zero snow in the Northwest Metro Atlanta area. The awesome shovel continues to be securely stored in an undisclosed location.

Slow night. Everyone must be watching '70s movies. This one set near LesterOfPuppets land.

God saw what happened the last time it snowed there and has decided to give you a pass for eternity.

I definitely had mixed emotions when I retired. I wanted to get out of there but I was worried about having enough to survive. They told me I could go part time or come back any time and set my own hours but I knew they would bury me with work if I was there.

Plus, every time I go in to visit the guys I see how stressed out they are. Memories come back about that stuff. But I do miss figuring out problems and hanging out with the other sufferers.

Leaving was an adjustment, I worked full time for 49 years and part time before that. But I like being at home and doing things whenever I want. And riding with other retirees. I still wake up at 5:30 or 6:00 every day. It will be 5 years this April.

Oof. The air-conditioning in the office is struggling. It's 33 Proper out there. That's just too hot. Maybe I should just knock off early: after all it's Friday and everyone else is either on holiday or finished for the day.

Since rain is predicted for the weekend I am trying to see who can ride tomorrow. A couple rides are happening but neither is appealing to me yet. Some others may join but it seems a lot of riders have stupid jobs to go to I'll know more in the a.m.

The Dakar rally is over now, I haven't looked to see if the ladies in the 2CV finished.

Got a free beer hand-up from a passenger in a car on the ride home tonight. It was even cold. that's a good way to start the weekend.

I am sitting outside my wife’s doctors office for her 9AM appointment. Today’s appointment is a piece of cake compared to yesterday where we had to drive 85 miles to Poughkeepsie for two appointments. Today it’s only about 6 miles. Her glaucoma has taken a turn for the worse lately, so I have to drive her to her appointments. I hope her vision loss is not permanent, but if it is, oh well, there are worse things in this world.
