In northern mi & about to head out for 55 mile ride & the weather decided to change literally last minute.
was predicting 65 sunny with low winds, now it's showing 45, rain, mild winds...
really was excited to achieve a better personal best, but that may be secondary as I'd rather first try to stay dry.

Not me. I did enough rain riding when I was a bike commuter in Atl. Always check the forecast, radar and wind apps on my phone before heading out.

Rule #9: If you are out riding in bad weather, it means you are a badass. Period.

Fair-weather riding is a luxury reserved for Sunday afternoons and wide boulevards. Those who ride in foul weather- be it cold, wet, or inordinately hot – are members of a special club of riders who, on the morning of a big ride, pull back the curtain to check ... upon seeing rain falling from the skies, allow a wry smile to spread across their face.

I did head out, got to the end of my street, and then turned around and headed home. I just wasn't feeling inspired, and a bit tired. The rain on my glasses was what did it. It just reminded me of how much that sucked.

I commute in the rain all the time, and often under worse conditions, but today I'm just not feeling it.

Riding in the rain means less people to deal with on the bike path. Cold, rain, weekday - I get the path all to myself. :-)

Down here in SE MI it is raining cats and dogs. Supposedly all day today. Gotta keep the big lake full, ya know. Commuted for decades in all weather including snow, ice, sub zero temps, rain. Did longer commutes over 15 miles on a Moto Guzzi. Done with all that now. I still commute, but no more snow, ice, and rain. At some point in life it becomes unnecessary to prove to oneself and the rest of the world you are a badass. Either you know it and believe it, or you don't know it and constantly have to prove it.

It has been calling for pop up showers for nearly every day this month! Luckily most of the heavy rains have missed us directly but have been causing landslides all around the area. This morning we had a light drizzle quite early. From 9:00 to 2:00 nothing. With clear skies and sun I decided to make a run for it. Six miles out it went from sunny to a downpour in seconds! Sprinted home as quickly as possible. Quickly made it home to only have the rain stop and the sun to shine brightly minutes after opening my garage. Sometimes you just can't win. Oh well I tried.

I am not ready for rainy rides yet.
As is evident by my bad luck in getting a flat while stopped for a while.
It was a slow leak so I pumped it up and limped home.
Good thing too as it started to rain.

Planning to ride. Possible showers in the forecast today (and what seems like every other day), so there is a possibility that my bike and I will get wet. C'est la vie!

Not in the rain, but I did take my 8-year-old son out to some local trails for a short ride and we had a good time. I was glad I took the gravel bike with wide tires since some of the chat was kind of thick. Left there and went to the arboretum and walked around a bit, got home right before it started storming again.

Rule of cycling #3 : Don't go riding in the rain.

That said, I grew up in south Florida where rain was an everyday event, and you'd be lucky not to get rained on at some point during your ride.

However, it one thing to get caught in the rain, its something totally different to intentionally go out cycling while it raining -- cloudy/expected/etc. Strongly consider the adage: slippery when wet. Its just too dangerous.

Just came back after 3 miles. Started to rain. Radar showed it was north of us, however it somehow found its way a little bit further south. 53 degrees and rain just does not cut it anymore. For crying out loud, it is the 20th of May already! Give me some sunshine and 80 degree temps!!

51% chance of T-storms. Went riding. Beat the odds. Warm, sunny and humid. Streets were wet when I started out, so I had to clean off the bike after the ride. No guts, no glory!

The temperature does play a big part with rain being tolerable.
50 or less with rain does not go well.

tomorrow is saying 45 am to 55 afternoon, no rain until after 3pm. I'll take it & go out for a ride!

Took a chance on going for a ride (Tour de Lyme in CT). Rained much of the day on Saturday and into the night. Forecast was 20 - 25% chance of rain through the morning with 50% chance of T-storms around 2:00. Morning was cloudy/foggy until the very end of the ride and the roads remained wet so took it easy on the steeper curvy descents. Ended up with only about 15 minutes of a very light rain so ended up being a good gamble as I don't like riding in the rain. Glad I took the chance!

This. It's been raining here in South Florida for the second week in a row and this is why trainers were invented. I don't find it fun to get wet and miserable, riding in poor visibility, possibly getting a cold and on top of that you have to thoroughly clean your bike right after the ride and the added danger of slippery roads surrounded by idiot drivers.

Unless it is a scheduled event, I've made a mistake if I ride in the rain. I did look at the radar yesterday which indicated I shouldn't go and went anyway and got away with it. Got to take advantage of cool days for riding the fixed gear on a 18 mile road route.
