Question about a Miyata Triplecross

Anybody know the max width tire I could put on one of these? It's a 1990, they come with 700 wheels, 35mm tires, and canti brakes.
Thank you!

I think some say a 38 with fenders, anything past that width and fenders wouldn't work. Overall max tire size is something I couldn't say. Others will chime in I'm sure

Thank you!
I have an '84 Miyata 610, and converting to 700 from 27" rims got me to a 40mm tire. I'm hoping for something fatter on a Triplecross.

I previously put drops on a mid 90's Marin mountain bike, but found the steering a little slow, so I'm looking for something more hybrid to work with.

I had that same Triple cross. If memory serves me right, 38s was about the max. And the ride was nowhere near as nice as the 610s I’ve owned. I traded it for a RB-2.

like others, i tend to try and squeeze as much rubber as i can get in my frames, sometimes. in which case, i managed some surly knards 700/41c on my '89. however, that's on 22mm external width rims with tubes meant for a max of 38mm. and, i don't run very high pressure. i just don't weigh a lot and like cush off road

maybe you can get 40mm tire on there depending on all other variables. certainly in the fork, but the rear is tighter. so, "safest" is probably 38mm as stated above
