Collided with a little girl. How do I know if my bike is okay?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

You're concerned about your bike but you didn't say if you got hurt. It seems that flying down a 5 foot hill would have likely caused you some injury. Have you seen a doctor yet? Maybe the bike needs a tune up but I'm more concerned about you.

Also, I'm glad the little girl didn't get hurt, but what about her parent(s)? It seems they would have yelled at you or worse for wrecking with their baby.

If you would have thrown money in at 9:30 AM EDT, you would have made a bundle by Noon.

Stocks are the only place that when there is a sale, people run out the door.

Lawsuit???

I am constantly amazed by people who need or want a "fast road bike" so they can ride "fast" and go out and spend $1000-2000+ on said fast bike and then ride it on MUP or worse the sidewalk. If that's where you are doing your riding just get a hybrid or beach cruiser because you should't be breaking 8mph ever

Did the parents ask if Treks are good bikes?

Some bike shops are like some veterinarians:

I know this lady who has always had a cat or two. Every time she gets a cat and takes it to the vet, the cat ALWAYS ends up having some kind of disease which requires $3000-$4000 worth of work, and a life-long special diet and medication for the rest of it's life. What are the chances of someone having 6 or 7 cats over the years, and every single one of them has some weird disease?

Sounds like the guy who owns the LBS OP goes to is the brother of the vet the cat lady uses!

Let me tell you about my cats. The almost 17 year old has bowel inflammation and gets prednisone every other day. The 13 year old is in early kidney disease and I give her fluids every other day. My 15 year old was recently diagnosed with bladder cancer. He's OK for now, but he gets prednisone daily and fluids every other day. He also gets eye drops for eye pressure. The two young ones are healthy, but one gets teeth brushing daily.

Until recently, the annual visits for the old cats were problem free.

I have a road bike and the MUP is part of my commute. In the morning, most of the people are commuting and know the rules. Very few kids or dogs. The commute home is a different matter. The people are @)_%&^ dangerous. They don't know which side to walk on and when you announce yourself, they stop and turn and look at you. Kids on bikes often don't control them well, especially when a fast road bike is approaching. Little kids not on bikes are even worse; a good number run all over the MUP and the parents don't corral them in. MUPs are better for family putt putt rides.

My vet told me my Ex had Munchhausen Syndrome by proxy because I had to take the pets in there so often because she worried so much. One day I had to take the cat to a different vet. The vet said, flat out, "this cat is a hypochondriac"... then charged me a $100 after hours fee...

My oldest cat is diabetic. Two shots of insulin per day. Insurance doesn't cover insulin and diabetes supplies for your cat and that stuff is damn expensive

I agree this thread should win the Thread Title of the Year award.

If the poster really can't tell if he should be worried about hitting a 5 year old vs. his bicycle (which I doubt) he shouldn't be bicycling or driving.

For best troll thread, I'll still vote for this thread from January

On a side note, back when I trained muay thai and frequented the sherdog forums, one Australian guy set up the most elaborate troll job that lasted about 3 years before he got outed. He claimed to be a retired Thai fighter living in a small village in Thailand who was half white as the result his mother having a one night stand with an Australian tourist. Due to his being half white and growing up fatherless he never fit in....etc. The guy probably posted 10k times in three years and had various pictures of himself. Things went on and on until another forum member actually traveled to the village he was supposedly from in Thailand and uncovered his lies. My only point is that this is the internet and there are people with way too much time on their hands
Exactly, and you could be Hilary Clinton!

Check OP's thread about the trailer hitch. There was a troll on the Touring section, prolific poster, finally outed. Turned out he didn't even ride!
