Shimano Hydraulic Brake hood reattachment

I had to bleed the kid's 105 (RS505 ) brake the other day. Rather than read the instructions, I peeled back the hood from the front, before I discovered the bleed port is near the bar. So I peeled up the wrong part of the hood, and unfortunately I can't get it to go back into place. Here is a photo of the problematic hood, and the other one for reference. Is there a simple way to fix this that I am overlooking?

Hood I messed up.

Hood installed correctly.

I tried some isopropanol, and it helped a bit with the RS505 hood, but not with the ultegra one (below):

I have a similar issue with an Ultegra hood that has been this way for years:

As the tech doc specifically points out, there are nubs that need to fit into the lever body. Some of them are a tight fit/have a relieved area on them (lip) to catch the other side of the lever body. I find a blunt tool, like a 2/2.5mm ball end, can be used to press them through/in far enough that they stay in place.

I hope you didn't try to pull the hood up/over the shifter body--the modern Shimano hoods do not like that, will stretch out, and never fit right again.

Sometimes they just won't return from the stretch. Sometimes if they get oil on them they also swell and never fit well again.

Two solutions.
1) Obvious, new hood.
2) Have used this many times. Make sure hood is clean, free of oil underside too as it caused slippage. Wrap one or two turns of black silicone self fusing tape to keep hood in place. Works very well. Same grip as normal hood. Hardly visible. Pretty durable. Cheap n easy.
Goid Luck.

I think in both cases I have probably over-bent (damaged) the hoods. The ultegra one has little round tabs with ridges on them, so they should just pop into their holes, but I think the ridge must be too flexible or something, as it comes right back out.

I'm tempted to glue it, but I don't want to do further damage, and someday I might have to bleed them again.

The 105 hood is almost back into position, thanks to the isopropanol trick.
