Trek 2000-Year? Worth?
I have a Trek 2000: white with red trim. I've tried doing some research about what year it is but it's like an illusive, mythical creature. When I feel like I've nailed down the year, I find that the serial number (396785) does not match up. My guess is that it is either an 89', 90' or 91' but, I'm not certain.
Also, since I'm not sure if it's considered a "vintage trek," I'm curious as to what the worth of the bike is. It has some Campagnolo components that alone are apparently worth something but, I'm pretty knowledge-less when it comes to bikes so it would be neat to have some enlightenment by those who can lend some ideas or knowledge on the subject.
Thank you

I'd say 1988, white with red offered in '85 and '88, the earlier year does not have aluminum on top tube, 88 does. Vintage-trek.com has both brochures on its site.
Value, don't know.

Hello Otterpopit, welcome to the forums. Interesting setup on that Trek, as I had my 2000 set up similarly. CampI Chours except for some Sachs shifters.

Based on the decals it's 89 or earlier.
The decal lettering style looks the same as my son's 88 Trek 1000.
As a bike, with a mixed component set, it doesn't have any more value than that of a rider ($200-$300 tops).
The parts off the bike would probably sell for more than the whole bike would.

According to the vintage-trek serial number listing your bike is a 1989 model. I have a 1988 that appears to be the same as yours. Despite the original value of this frame when new this model does not seem to get a lot of love. I like the ride very much though.

Still learning
My FMV estimate is based on selling a 1990ish Trek 1200 last spring for $350, overhauled and ready to ride.
As is, probably $250-$275. Overhauled and ready to ride, $375-$450. Parted out may yield you more. If you aren't in an urban area, take away 20%.
