Bike Rescue Mobile Van
I was a part of a Bike Tour today and I saw the strangest thing, a mobile bike repair shop. I swear I thought of the idea of this years ago but someone actually has done it. This is great for us NY'ers.

There are a few of those in the SF Bay Area. With the cost of retail space so high, a mobile service makes a lot of business sense.

I have seen a mobile bike repair van in the Eastview parking which is right off the South County Trail in Westchester NY.
I never had the idea for a mobile bike repair van but I thought it would be great if there was an AAA for bicycles (BAA). There is, but it's called the AAA. The Northeast region allows you two service calls a year which do not count against your auto service calls limit. I believe there is another organization that does it, but I don't know their name.

The Northeast region allows 10 free towing miles per call before additional per mile charges apply. You also have to be in a location accessible by car, van or truck.

No misimpression claimed - I was curious about the AAA benefit and reporting back for others (looks like Mid-Atlantic is stingier at 5 miles, compared to NE at 10, though).

I saw something similar in Essex and Hudson Counties in NJ, they might even do NYC. The vehicle looked like Ford Freestyle, if I recall correctly the business was called “ I hate Bike shops” .

I've seen that van parked in my neighborhood, around the corner from my house. But you know what, NYC has a bike rescue service that covers 4 of the 5 boroughs and will transport you to any of the 4 from wherever you are. They charge $2.75 for the service and will discount you if you pay for bulk usage in advance.
