If you were to listen to music ...

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I listen to synthwave all the time when I cycle. If I have a dedicated bike lane I pop both ear buds in, otherwise I just use the right one.

Judas Priest. Hell Bent For Leather, Freewheel Burning, Painkiller, Steeler, All Guns Blazing and so many more. British Steel is great for a session on the rollers.

Early Priest for sure.

Running Wild has to be the best song ever for rollers.

If you're strictly talking about bicycle related songs, this one should stir memories of one's youth.

Never used to have music playing but now in my older, more decrepit state of existence I ride with tunes either on iPod or Country FM radio. Rides that begin shortly after 12AM, my Midnight Madness rides another in 13 hours, I begin with ABBA's ---- (Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! ( A Man After Midnight )) ----- because I am a Man After Midnight on another ride. Listen to their songs then Simon and Garfunkel then bring back Walt's memories with Disney tunes. As I mentioned, I'm old and decrepit with a brain that is mush.

Music is my motivation, I can't ride without it. It's illegal where I live (not even in 1 ear), but I do it anyways.

Right now I listen to rap music and sometimes match my cadence with the beat lol. Otherwise, electro music is fine.

Three Little Birds by Bob Marley for climbs.

Thunderstruck by AC / DC for descents.

Assuming I want to descend like a maniac.

Is it also illegal for a deaf person to ride a bike where you live?

Fortunately no. It would be a form of discrimination.

Pretty much anything by Tonetta, the last real punk in rock.

Or something like this...

...and my favorite San Diego ska band from around 1980...

Yes, and Machine Head is another great album to listen to on the rollers. No need to skip any songs.

Personally, I never ride with music outdoors, not because I think it more dangerous, just because I like the quiet of nature an the sound of the wind.
Regarding the issue of danger- I put no stock in it. I can’t count the number of times that I looked back thinking a car or truck was bearing down on me only to see an empty road behind me. Similarly, I can’t count the number of times I thought I was clear only to look back and see a vehicle bearing down on me.
What this tells me is that 1) sound and hearing are deceptive when riding and to depend on them will get you killed. 2) visual confirmation of the road back is the only thing that you can depend on. So ride with buds and enjoy or take nature as it comes. It’s all good.
On the trainer I listen to King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizards from Australia, The War on Drugs, Thom York, Radiohead, AC/DC, Miles Davis, Jethro Tull, Stick Figure, The Feelies, Almond Brothers, Dire Straights, The Head and the Heart, etc etc etc.
