Well it was actually yesterday, 24 miles RT with the wife on our TT Rover Tandem Trike riding the back roads around Security/Fountain CO. where we live. Stayed close to home due to possible heavy afternoon thunder storm with HAIL was forecasted! Had excellent time, 85F sunny with just enough breeze to make it comfortable! Stopped in Fountain for great slice of pizza and a salad, stopped of to take care of a couple of errands before heading back to the storage unit, got home as the "dark clouds" were coming over Pikes Peak!

The fountain and the Fountain Regional Park pond!

Up in the hills this morning for some shred-time. Bombing down at up to 25 mph and carving the berms was a nice way to start the week.

26 miles Sunday on a charity ride, 18 solo miles Monday, and 20 solo miles today. Weather has been spectacular- cool, calm, mid 70s. Perfect for riding. So every chance I have to take my bike out, I do.

Noticed today some trees are starting to change color and the sun is at a different angle in the sky. The autumn equinox is only 2 weeks away....

August 30 - great 36 mile ride with quick recovery. The plan was to ride a couple of times during the 1st week of September, 40 miles on 9/8, a couple of easy rides, and then 50 on 9/15 at the Evanston Bike Club's North Shore Century.

In actuality, after 8/30, my next ride was a difficult 22 mile ride on 9/7. The next one was 28 miles today, also very difficult, especially riding into 15 mph S winds (gusts to 25) to get home. I don't see doing 50 on 9/15.

Did something external happen? Shingrix on 8/31, followed by flu-like symptoms. Bummer - I keep telling myself a few bad rides is better than shingles.

I'm still aiming for 50 before the end of the month.

A frigid 80°F at 12:09AM today for the start of another Midnight Madness Meander with an almost FULL MOON helping to light-up the roads for a 101 miler. Not a single passing vehicle in the first 75 miles and then only a handful.

I ride each morning to the bank and to get my morning breakfast burrito in the morning, normally a 8 to 10 mile ride. Got to ride off the food before getting home

40.5 miles cumulative from the 10th to the 13th. Today was the first day in many months to wear the jacket - not because of the cold as much as the drizzle and damp. It was 90+° yesterday; 62° today. Came home from the 11 mile ride with water dripping off my visor from the heavy mist and fog condensation.

26 miles under sunny skies, mostly mid- to upper- 70s, light SW wind. Quick recovery, then a walk down to Northwestern's stadium to see NU beat UNLV. Man, 8 mph headwinds are so much easier to deal with than 18 mph headwinds. Next week is supposed to have great weather.

ETA: Yikes! I forgot to mention I pedaled my 1000th 2019 mile on this ride. 3rd year in a row.

In Raleigh for a new old bike purchase yesterday and met up with youngest daughter Liz for a Neuse River Trail ride. It was a great fallish day and everyone on greenway seemed so friendly and surprisingly "wavy"

Liz has a strange thing going on behind her ear sometimes when riding or exercising I posted about in Pills & Ills
https://www.bikeforums.net/pills-ill...en-before.html

Went for my usual ride via local MUP. Should have checked the forecast better because the called for "showers" became a steady rain that holed me up at Starbuck's for 1.5hrs (15kms away from home) until it let up a bit.

Spent the last 45mins cleaning the bike.......

Friday - 36 miles with about ten others on a flat repeating (M-W-F morning) club ride. 15mph average on my long wheelbase ti 'bent.
Saturday - 48 miles with 100 (?) others on a weekend club ride. 14.6mph average riding my short wheelbase 'bent with my spouse on her e-assist Trek. That's about 2mph faster than our common tandem speeds. We alternate between tandem and single bike rides.
Riding the short wheelbase bike more frequently on club rides because it fits on the receiver hitch rack behind the car along with spouse's Trek.

Had a good ride on Saturday but still having some pain. Began the ride under a Harvest Full Moon taking things slow since 81°F and high humidity greeted me for my 12:09AM start. Put 86 miles on before joining the gang for the 8AM LBS ride and was looking forward to some wheel sucking, free ride cruising. Group of riders have no problem letting me hang on and things were going great at the 1 mile mark just spinning along at 22mph when I unexpectedly had to pull off. Draft lost, easy-peazy riding GONE and 12mph to 15mph winds to deal with resulted in a much, MUCH slower 34 additional miles. The previous Saturday was 111 miles, on Thursday it was 101 miles so I had to complete with 121 miles and thinking the next ride should be 131 miles. Tonight's looking good with 3mph winds and a bit lower temp/humidity in the forecast. Managed a 16.2mph moving average that I must work on to improve and hoping cooler weather will help.

Flat land spinning is great but the wind and higher temps/humidity makes for a slow longer ride.

Centenario Coppi

Rode the Centenario Coppi yesterday. Here's the thread, https://www.bikeforums.net/classic-v...rio-coppi.html

67 miles of the finest hills in SW Wisconsin and a little over 4300 ft of climbing. The hill with the sustained 15% grade and one 18% section was fun,

The roads were fantastic. There were great views and little to no traffic.

I rode my '70-'71 Fuji Finest. I built it with a triple (SR Apex 86 bcd crank with 48/38/28 rings and 13-28 7 speed new winner freewheel) for this ride. The first gen dura ace sidepull brake with kool stop pads did a fine job as well. The bike rode and handled great with 700 x 32c tires over the gravel and rough stuff. The old school suntour derailleurs (cyclone derailleurs and suntour barcons) handled the shifting with ease.

84°F with 81% humidity at 11:29PM last night meant "Sweating For This Oldie" after a few minutes. Rode the Roubaix at a Gopher Tortoise top speed and after an ISS sighting (International Space Station), 3 rest stops, a couple of close encounters with rabbits and armadillos, called it quits with 105 miles. Time for some ZZZzzzzzzzzz's.
