Need info/value for 1950s or 60s "Derby"
Hi everyone,
So I don't have a photo, but it looks exactly like this Schwinn bike(except without the words Schwinn of course):
https://cardiffbikeshop.com/projects/...s/67dracer.jpg
It has the words "DERBY" on the badge under the handlebars. There is a little picture of a jockey riding a horse, and under that it says made in W. Germany.
It is in good condition, with a nice black paint job, the only thing that looks off is the back breaks, and of course it has 30 years worth of dust.
So does anyone know anything about it? I can't find any info online about Derby bikes from this era.
Thanks!

Thank you for the info, is this bike a collectable that should be kept original? Because I was planning to paint it a different color.

I don't really know if the Derby brand adds any value to it, but a Rollfast in the same condition would probably be worth around $75-$100. I don't think it is rare enough that painting it would be a sin though.

I found the same bike in my grandmom's garage. She claims she use to ride it to work back in the 60's. It's all there, right down to tires, which still hold air. I cleaned it up...here are some pics. Does any one have info on it? Year? are parts missing? The front fender looks like it's in backwards?

The two people talking about these bikes haven't posted since 2012 so this a pretty cold trail.

Derby for sale
I have one I picked up at an auction a few years ago. I bought it for my boyfriend but his MS is progressing and he’ll never be able to ride it so it’s just hanging in the barn. I’m in SC. I’ll try to find pics to post. It is black and a men’s bike.
