^^^^^^^^ Ticks a lot of check-boxes for me. Lugged frame, paint job reminiscent of the times, thumb shifters, decent shape, appears to be a Deerhead RD. Other than the current circumstances, I theeenk the Bay Area vintage MTB market is generally warm / hot, so I reckon that's good bang for the buck.

MOUNTAIN BIKE VINTAGE KUWAHARA - $125

https://sfbay.craigslist.org/scz/bik...089127873.html

I am the original owner of this MTB that I purchased in 1990. I love it but time to part ways.

It is a stylish and highly capable bike perfect cruising local bike paths or going off-road.

These superior quality Japanese bikes built in the early days of mountain biking are highly sought after by collectors.

Bike features include:
- High end 1989 Kuwahara Sierra bike hand made in Japan
- Triple butted Chromoly Tange steel frame
- Shimano Deore Mountain drive train

Bike has been well cared for and is in decent condition. Had a full tune up three years ago then garaged - all components including bottom bracket, gears and brakes are functioning great.

It does need new tires.
You are in the right place and on the right track.

Your gut is already right, go get it, now.

1986 LOOK Equipe Bernard Hinault - Reynolds 753 - $450 CAD - Vancouver

https://vancouver.craigslist.org/van...096278160.html

A Look Bernard Hinault frame with Reynolds 753 tubes which is a heat treated version of 531 and only certified builders were allowed to use 753. This frame has a Cinelli bottom bracket. Bernard Hinault rode 753-tubed bikes for many of his professional wins, as did Greg LeMond as a member of the La Vie Claire team. The team also included Steve Bauer and Andy Hampsten at one point. This frame has the La Vie Claire team colours.

This is a great retro race frame with a high quality tubeset. The paint does show its battle scars, but no dings or dents on the frame. The bicycle is currently setup with Shimano RX100 components, a solid groupset that functions very well. Also a Kashimax Aero saddle, this one is a little beat up, but a top saddle back in the day.

The size is 55cm c-c seat tube and a 55cm c-c top tube. Good for somebody around 5"10 give or take an inch.

God, I can't justify that, and I wish I could. Retro Looks with the RYB paint job are some of my favorite looking bikes ever, and steel ones (I mainly associate them with early carbon) especially.

I have one, or I'd be grabbing this. If you do any work on freewheels, these are great, and no longer made. I think I paid $24 for mine new from BR:

Not sure this is C+V but this is the titanium Paramount made by Serotta in the late 90s, in the last days of Schwinn as a quality company (prior to GT going bust). Think these are continuously undervalued, $700 would be an absolute steal for a Ti Serotta under any circumstnaces.

https://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/...097319272.html

Schwinn Paramount (Ti) - $700 (Sellwood)

Schwinn Paramount 61cm - Titanium Frame/Carbon Fork

Frame is made by Serotta

Never crashed. Some road wear and tear but everything is solid.

Dura-ace - Front and rear derailleur, pedal crank arm, shifters, front and rear brake
Mavic Ksyrium Rims (622x13)
Roubaix Armadillo Elite Tires
Sintema Slim Fork
Ritchey WCS 4 axis stem
Double Chainset

Light, stiff, fast. Selling because the bike is too small for me.

Looks like a "small" 61 with hammered paint from here, too bad, glad its not my size.

That "just hosed it off to 'clean' it" gave me the willies. Water and dirt+grease never play well and the grime will never come off without a rag and/or a cleaning medium + a rag. Reminds me of plenty bikes I've either bought or worked on where they come in with nice but put-away-wet parts. Usually Shimano 9-speed era stuff because it's "just old" stuff. Eeeeeverything needs to come apart and be cleaned, lubricated, remounted and adjusted. Anything less just engenders sadness. As in, it could have been better!
