Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

63. I have other problems, like increasing anxiety, which I think is part of the overall picture.

I’m about your age and I know what he’s talking about. It’s much of why I don’t drink much anymore.

Interesting, looks like PA is number 1!

And naturally, IL made the top 10.

It helps that I never partied in my youth. (Wow, it feels really weird to say "in my youth") So I don't have a lot of bad memories of hangovers. Every other month or so I'll have a strong cocktail or two and that's just enough to make me feel great without any bad after effects. There was a time just a few years back where it was nearly a nightly occurrence and that wore on me. I was dealing with some stuff...

Around $1.80 here and I have been daily driving the El Camino. It's rough around the edges "rat rod" vibe gives it that perfect end of the world feeling as the world around me gets ever so quiet.

I didn’t party a lot either. Hardly at all, in fact. Right around when I turned 35 the amount of time I spent with a pleasant buzz dropped and the amount of hangover or just plain sick feeling increased. If I drink a few times a year it can still be pretty good, but the thought of regular drinking is not a pleasant one for me.

In college we got ripped every weekend, beer and cheap wine. We had to travel maybe 5 or 10 miles to a wet county to stock up, didn’t matter.

I rather enjoy the gray area of having a buzz but not being drunk. I'm a cheap date, so one decent beer will usually do the trick. It's rare that I have multiple beers, unless it's over the course of hours. This ties in to another factor that limits the appeal of liquor for me - the dosing makes is easier to overdo.

My favorite beer is the Chimay Grande Reserve. It is 9% and comes in a 750 ml bottle. That paired with a good steak dinner and I am feeling GREAT. Best done when you know you can basically go straight to bed. Which is basically never when you have kids.

Governor just ordered shelter in place for counties surrounding Philadelphia. Since "essential" businesses all already closed, I am not sure if this really makes much of a difference.

There may be a cats thread also somewhere for all you cat fans, somebody please let us know if you find one.

I worked at a new car dealer where they had an underground tank installed but the filler was badly designed and leaked when it rained. Dozens of new cars were fueled with the water/gasoline mix before anything was done to fix it. I drained a bunch of cars that year.

I'm only on page 407, but if I don't reply, I'll forget. After deleting my old fb account, I signed up under an assumed name, so I can see the goings on in my local village, and no one who knows me can find me.
In the lockdown, people are dreaming if they think 3 weeks will be enough. Dreaming. I forgot the rest.
Busy day!
