Are your pets safe from Covid-19?

Apparently not. Even cats and dogs get it.

A few pet dogs and cats have tested positive too. When I heard about them I expected to hear later that it was some kind of mistake. It's seeming more realistic now.

The really frightening thing about this (if true) is it means there's a new reservoir for the virus.

Wasn't there a Heinlein story where the family dog left the shelter and came back in "ridden" by an alien parasite? These times feel that way

It seems this virus is zoonotic and anthroponotic. That is super scary.

The current coronavirus that causes COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2) may have jumped from bats to pangolins to humans. Researchers are still investigating, but that's been the route for previous coronaviruses. This one appears to adapt more efficiently than others.

The canine case I read about was extremely mild. I'm not sure why they even tested.

The feline cases seem to be more severe, but very rare.

Nonetheless, there is a hunt for animals for lab testing... we should all donate any stray cats and neighbor cats we can collect to science.

Can't speak for the Corona virus in cats and dogs but in the beef industry the vaccine that is given a few weeks out from birth contains Corona virus. So I would assume that the news is trying their darndest to sensationalize another story.

Yup. Those crazy fake news people even have all those moronic scientists believing that more than one coronavirus exists. Thanks for your continued efforts to debunk this blatant and uninformed sensationalism.

That guy was so prolific. There probably isn't any possible experience there isn't a Heinlein story about. I wasn't crazy about his writing, but he had the best ideas. Really fascinating, well thought out, and really diverse in nature too if you read his short stories.
