birthday ride coming up

Signed up for the Cool Breeze double-metric century, which happens to occur on my birthday. I'll be riding double my age in miles and triple my age in kilometers, (I wonder how much longer in the future I'll be able to do that). This year, I'm not going to waste so much time at the rest stops and not fret so much about not having any turkey left at the lunch stop. I'll expect to have to carry my own food this time.

Anybody else have birthday ride plans this year?

I can't ride on my birthday. My family expects to have full access to me on that day, and they would considered it selfish of me to rob them of that pleasure. Hence, I've never done a birthday ride that I can remember. I'd like to. Some day.

By way of explanation, I have two daughters. So, that's three women; three against one. They're not rational most of the time...

No rides I know of as far as an organized ride but I am planning on riding my age. It is in the middle of the week, I believe so no one but me, and that will be fine. My wife's homemade pecan pie will be waiting on me to return. MMMmmmmmmmm

I do, September 5, 55 years old. Will be on my own next week after 26 years of marriage. Scared as hell, not a loner. I am so use to having family around. But yes I will ride at least my age; maybe double if I get out early enough. Cycling has been a sanity saver. Has definitely helped me cope with the waist deep crap that goes with these kind of issues. Lp

Thanks Mikey, but I should have been clearer, my B'day is in November, plenty of time to train and work up an apatite, though

Planning on riding my 67th in September after returning from Disney World with my wife, daughters, son in law and granddaughters. May take a few days to get legs back before the ride.

Birthdays are great, the more you have the longer you live.

Since my birthday is in December, I call it my 'age ride' and will do it in September sometime. I am 63 and the ride is 65 miles.

I hiked with my son on my birthday (last Friday, Jul 27). I was on staycation that week, and logged about 253 miles for the week.

After riding my mandatory 70 miles with me in May, my riding buddy says we've got it all wrong. You should have to ride a century when you're 20 then deduct a mile each year after that so you're riding less as you get older not more On the other hand I'm so pleased that I can still ride 70 at 70 I'll probably be out sweating for 71 next May

I'll be riding on my birthday later this week, but since it's an after-work group training ride, I won't have the time, or the authority to suggest the mileage be more than doubled the usual amount. And even if I did, I doubt I'd get any takers. This weekend I'll give it a shot on my own.
