6th Avenue Bike Lane

New York’s 6th Avenue Bike Lane is now complete! Previously the 6th Ave Bike Lane ended at 42nd street (Bryant Park) . Now it continues to Central Park, work was completed in October 2020.

Thanks for the update. I've not (yet) biked this segment since the improvement. Even in the before-times, I found 6th Av more inviting / less threatening than 8th Av. Not on every block, but mostly: 6th Av's sidewalks are wider — sometimes, much wider. There's less motivation and certainly less need for pedestrians to use a bike lane as a sidewalk extension. Also important: with Central Park closed to cars, it seems to me there's less car traffic on 6th Av.
