Beat road bike between $1000-1500

Hello,

Looking for my first road bike between $1000-1500. Which ones would u guys recommemd. So far have seen Cannondale Sora at $1300 and Fuji Spotif 1.3 At $1200. Due to shortage of road bikes those are the only two I have found. What's your guys recommendation? Thanks.

If I could only pick between those two, I would choose the one that fits best.

The fuji has more for less, but neither is a screaming deal abd neither is a rip off. So go with the one that fits best.

Fuji uses a 10sp drivetrain vs the 9sp Cannondale's brakes are a little nicer, though neither is significantly better/worse.
Fuji has a better crank and rings.
Both have wheels that will be a toss up as to if they are good or frustrating. Both are aluminum frames with common design elements mated to a carbon fork.

Not sure how you ride or what your intended use is but I wouldn't rule out a 2nd hand bike. Two yrs ago I bought a new CAAD 12 on dealer close out for $1350. The 105 version. I think you may find some on places like EBAY and Craigslist for around $1000.

Look at second hand if you feel comfortable assessing the condition of the bike, the level or quality of the components - including wheels, and whether the fit is close enough to get right with normal adjustments or component replacements (i.e. stem). If you don't feel comfortable with that sort of stuff, don't do it. For the choice you put out, go with the shop that you feel most comfortable with, that you feel will give you quality advice on fit and adjustments. Not all employees at local bike shops can do that.

Another vote for the used market. You'll get way more bang for your buck on a bike that's a couple of years old.
