Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

"New" 1983 Schwinn Super Sport

Here is my slightly (haha) custom and just finished 1983 Schwinn Super Sport. The bike just plain flys, rides so smoothly and corners like a go cart! When I got it, it was in very rough shape, the paint had been "redone" somewhere along the way and when they spray painted it they were not very good about masking or getting a good finish. I tried to save the original finish, but it was not to be. Once i found out that getting the original Schwinn decals was impossible, I decided to build the bike that I wished was offered in a hot glossy orange color. When I stripped the frame, found that the dropouts were all chrome. So I decided to finish them the way that you see them here.

First +1 in the n+1 equation, just put the thing together with pedals/stem/cages/saddle/wheelset/powermeter on order

As my signature indicates, I own several road bikes. I think that over the years I have postedpictures of them on BF.

The C60, however, is my latest acquisition. I have not been able to ride it yet.I am still recuperating from hand surgery torepair a broken bone from a crash that I suffered with my C59.

Easton EA70 LTD wheelset with Vittoria Corsa CX III tires. Lost almost one pound from stock rims and tires. Just a bit over 17pds.

I bought a 15 Amira ( women's Tarmac) at a great discounted price. After one week found the fit to be too tight so the shop let me exchange for a 16 Tarmac 105. The difference is the Tarmac is much stiffer than the Amira which rides just as comfortable as a Synapse or any endurance bike I had tried, that frame is utter smooth. Its just too bad the top tube is too short for me. I'm a guy btw. Here is pic, just picked it up an hour ago!

My Trusty old bike. It's a 1997 Raleigh M-Trax R100. Stickers were so scrated and tattered i removed them. replacing parts bit by bit. unorthodox with the downtube shifters and track bars but the setup suits me fine.

I treated my 20-year Raleigh commuter to a total rebuild. Full DA9K drivetrain, some Nitto Noodle bars and, HED Belgium rims with some Hope hubs. One of the perks at a working a bike shop, everything came to be less than $800.
