Temporarily silence a Garmin?

I have a Garmin Edge 130.

It beeps when I turn it on/off or plug it into a USB. Is there a way to temporarily silence the thing, or turn those beeps off while keeping the ones for notification/radar on?

This is really freaking out one of my dogs.

Give your dog a treat every time you plug the Garmin in?
Additional upside is the dog will remind you when it's time to sync.

On my Varia's head unit you can hold the power button briefly.

I don't think so for turning it off/on. But have you tried turning off the sound for alerts? https://www8.garmin.com/manuals/webh...32F1ECE70.html

interesting. my 130 Plus doesn't do that. do you mean that it beeps continuously when you're charging it? mine beeps once on laps (or 5mi default), beeps once on power-up, beeps once on sensor connects. otherwise, pretty unobtrusive...

No, it behaves as you describe. The single beep on power up/down drives him nuts. He hears it from a detached garage. I couldn't believe it was the source of the problem for a couple of years, but it is reproducible. It doesn't phase the younger dog a bit.

Can you turn up the volume for off-course warnings on any of the Edge models? My hearing isn't the greatest and I can barely hear my 830. And the off-course warning is fleeting on-screen.
