BENCHED!
I had an infected cyst on my back punctured and drained at urgent care this morning. :barf: Doc said it would not be a good idea to ride this weekend. Surgery to remove the whole damn mess is scheduled for Monday, which means I probably won't be back on my bike until the following weekend, at the earliest. Grrr....

Spent the last day plus obsessing over whether to repaint Mrs Peel or try to touch up the paint. I finally decided that I could try touching up and if dissatisfied I could have it stripped and repainted. Spent a lot of time trying to find a match to the paint online. Thought I found one of Testors' metallics that looked right, so I went to Michaels' on the way back from getting vaccinated (First shot, Pfizer. Second due on the 30th). I bought two bottes of it. After lunch, I checked it on a patch of paint on the steerer, where it would not be visible once the bike is built up. Not even close!
Then I looked at the label, where I saw an different name from what I THOUGHT I'd bought. Nuts. Tiny, tiny, tiny lettering. Plus in the lighting at Michaels', it looked okay, and I didn't have the fork with me for comparison.
So, I tried my hand at mixing the color myself. I got pretty close, but I discovered the problem with mixing this stuff on a plastic dish was that as soon as I started working with it it started drying out, and I barely managed to get the whole fork done before it was too dry to work with. The end result will be a little lumpy, I'm afraid. But the match is reasonable from a distance.

Offspring had her first hose back riding lesson today without the trainer holding a lead line. She did really well, also learned how to start to trot. Not going to lie that scared me a little bit, but she did really really well.

You might do better with a hotel like Residence Inn that includes more apartment kind of features than a typical hotel room.

My daughter plays travel softball, which has put us in a wide variety of accommodations over the last 6 years - from really bad, to pretty nice, and a lot of mediocre (Best Western type). One of our favorites was the Residence Inn because we each got our own bedroom and bathroom on opposite sides of a central living room/kitchen area. When we have freedom to book our own hotel on these trips (we don't usually), I always look for something along those lines.

Well, we just withdrew from Marion-Bermuda because of COVID-related logistical uncertainties. Sad, but more time to ride, sail with LSS, and maybe take a quick trip to Iceland to see daughter, who gets married in a couple of weeks.

And my sister's a week after your son's. She is almost as old as you. 70 this year.

Were I in the USA I would certainly consider it. Though I don't have all that much anymore.

Best deal I found reasonably close, still a bit of a hike assuming you're looking for UCLA proximity.

Didn’t get to ride today. Wife is suffering from a migraine so my early morning 50 ended up being an early morning zero because there was no way I was leaving her with the girls. Got a ton of yard work done though. Half a yard of dirt laid out, 50 pounds of tall fescue down, only another half a yard and 50 pounds of seed to go!
They have their first softball practice tomorrow, so I’m going to have to cut it a little shorter than I want, but that’s okay. WhyFi your 109 is safe.

Speaking of hotels, we've arrived at our halfway point in IN. Evidently IN recently lifted their mask mandate and the lady at the front counter has expressed that she doesn't care whether or not guests wear a mask, despite hotel guidelines stating otherwise. Freaking gaggles of unmasked have been roaming the halls and elevators and it's just frustrating.
I've never been terribly fond of IN and, after driving 11 hours to get here, I'm admittedly in a foul mood, but the throngs of dumbasses and the number of lifted, soot-belching pick-ups is making me think that a sinkhole roughly the size, shape and location of IN wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing.

bam got out for a ride today, though, so he's back on top, I would assume.
