Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Definitely bladed for veggies. Meats don’t require as much precision.

I gave all the bladed spokes I had to the buyer of my Ksryiums. I have some butted round spoke somewhere but I don't know what length they are.

Excellent

Correct. Though mine are mostly CX-Ray, and those aren't quite as bladed as some of the Mavic offerings.

unsure. I brought a bulk of of bike parts once. there is a box of boxes of spokes. I'm guessing lots and lots as the box with the spokes in is really heavy.

Speaking of spokes, today's project was building a new wheelset around an old set of hubs. Some Easton hub that isn't in the QBP spoke calculator data base, so I got out the calipers and measured it. DT Swiss Competition spokes (straight pull) to a DT Swiss R460 disc rim with DT Swiss Pro Head nipples.

This was my first straight pull spoke build. Not anxious to do my second.

About a dozen. And about 96 on wheels with borked rims that I brought home from the bike shop.

In other spoke news, I finally made a reasonable effort to true the plus bike wheels I built a while ago. I mean, disc breaks, so who cares, right?

Even though the front wheel fits in the truing stand, I already had the masking tape out to do the rear wheel which doesn't fit in the truing stand, so I figured I'd stick with that

Ugggh. I open up this tech doc, and at first glance, I'm like "Cool, they have bolt sizes on here!"

But not for the one I need - Bracket Fixing Bolt B.

Thanks Shimano.

Looks like M5 with countersink, maybe 10mm, I'll bring the Bolt A and just get a little longer than that.

Woohoo, after much fiddling around, it looks like this Origin8 fatbike front derailleur adapter, which is made for the other type e-type derailleur, oriented upside down will work just fine if I drill a hole in it for the "Bracket Fixing Bolt B".

With the drive side cup tightened down, it actually holds everything in place without said bolt, but I'd feel a lot better with a bolt in place. Bolt finding, hole drilling and tapping will have to wait til tomorrow night though.

Gonna be pretty psyched to go 2x on this thing. Will have to be 2x10 for a while til I can trade an 11-46 for an 11-42. Shimano says the rear derailleur isn't happy with 2x and a 46T big cog. Oh, I guess I have to dig up another chainring too.
